Carey Lamont Richardson, 21, was found by investigators in an apartment on Cooper Avenue. Richardson was wanted on a harassment charge in connection with an incident that took place on Sept. 26.
Anniston police Sgt. Josh Doggrell said Richardson assaulted a 22-year-old woman whom he was acquainted with at Barber Terrace Apartments on South Allen Avenue. The victim sustained minor injuries and the assault charges were later reduced to harassment charges.
Richardson also faces a felony charge of first-degree assault from an incident that occurred Oct. 20. He was allegedly involved in the assault of a 31-year-old man on 15th Street, across from Cooper Homes. Several men, some carrying guns, surrounded the victim and beat him, police said.
The victim sustained a broken wrist on his right hand and several injuries to his face. He was taken to Stringfellow Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police are still investigating other suspects involved in the assault, Doggrell said.
Additionally, Richardson faces criminal trespassing charges stemming from the Anniston Housing Authority’s no-trespassing list. Richardson on Wednesday was being held at the Anniston City Jail. Total bond was set at $16,000.
