His downtown shop, Lovers by Glover, is located at 105 E. Ladiga St. in Piedmont, next to Guttery Insurance.
Glover says he’s always had an eye for design but never took it much further than a hobby he ran from home, helping friends and neighbors design weddings and parties and adding personal touches to their home.
He graduated from Auburn University in 2008 with a sociology degree and was a property manager in Birmingham for a time before moving back to Piedmont in January.
It was after coming back home that he said he decided to open his shop. Inside, wreaths he’s made hang on walls, as do stuffed burlap sacks that he’s transformed into birds and bunnies.
If you’d like the first letter of your last name in a three-dimensional moss sculpture, he can do that, too. And he can personalize gifts with lettering to suit customers’ needs.
He sells everything from sofas to ceramic vases and shops all over for the items. Glover spotted a yellow antique armoire in Cave Spring, Ga., which now sits along a wall in his store. A birdcage perches on its stand by the storefront window.
Glover makes house calls as well, helping homeowners choose what goes best where. At Christmas time, instead of putting out the same tired decorations as last year, Glover said, he can come to your home and make the season look a bit more, well, seasonal.
His fourth wedding job is coming up in May and he’s planned several parties as well.
He says many people, while they know a nice-looking room when they see it, can’t seem to make one of their own.
“Once they see it they know it looks good. They just have trouble picking it out and putting it together,” Glover said. “I just have an eye for it, I guess.”

Heating up a coolnew business
If your air conditioning unit breaks down as the weather begins to heat up, there’s a new option to bring your system back to life.
Air Medics owners Shawn Movitz and Mark Schultz once ran separate businesses, but now they have combined their almost 50 years of experience together into the new company at 1202 Pelham Road S. in Jacksonville.
“I ran a different business out of Oxford for quite a while and due to studies we decided to move up here,” said Movitz. “I made some different choices and started a whole new life.”
Co-owner Mark Schultz is from Jacksonville. He said they were asked by a lot of people to move to Jacksonville after doing work in the area for over five years.
Schultz said that as they pick up new customers, the old ones do not leave.
“One of our goals when we meet new people or get a new business, we want them do be customers for life. We want them to continue to call us,” he said. “And we haven’t lost anybody, including the city of Jacksonville.”
The two men said that one advantage they have is keeping their prices down to give the customers a better value.
“You’re getting the same exact product, with everything back behind it. We might not have a pretty building and pretty trucks, but let me tell you something, the customers pays for it. We have paid off vehicles and we are leasing this place, so our overhead is dramatically low,” said Movitz.
The biggest thing Movitz and Schultz ask for as just the chance to show them what they can do.
“We’re just looking for the opportunity even if it’s just a second opinion, which are free,” said Movitz.
