Thumbs down to GOP House leader John Boehner of Ohio and his Republican cohorts. Boehner campaigned two years ago on the promise of job creation. As a result of his promise and the promises of others, the GOP gained a solid majority in the House of Representatives.

Boehner claimed that the goal of the Republican Party was jobs, jobs, jobs. But what has really taken place in the U.S. House since 2010 is disgraceful. The hypocrisy of Boehner, Rep. Mike Rogers and other Republicans has been their relentless quest to get rid of President Obama at all costs. While the president has bent over backwards to move this country forward, Boehner and company have continually tightened the purse strings of progress with their whining for tax breaks for the richest Americans.

It is painfully clear that the Republicans in Congress will do nothing to help our economy before the November elections. In fact, Boehner bragged that the Republican-held House has made a real difference in changing the direction of this country. He wasn’t lying in his assessment. The GOP-controlled House has stopped meaningful job growth under his watch and practically shut the U.S. economy down along with it.

In all fairness to the Ohio congressman, credit should be given where it is due. Boehner led the charge to print new pocket-size editions of the U.S. Constitution to give to constituents. He led the House efforts to hold Democratic Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of something? Why, House leader Boehner even led the charge to repeal the Affordable Care Act 33 times. But all is not lost on the congressman’s accomplishments. Two post offices were named under his awesome leadership and recent unemployment numbers reflect GOP failures in putting out-of-work Americans (and Alabamians) back to work.
