Two men are being held at Calhoun County jail after an alleged attempt to steal an air conditioning unit from a residence in Saks over the weekend.

Uriel Donald Lancaster, 23, and Nicholas Brett Boyer, 25, were charged with first degree theft and possession of burglars’ tools Sunday. Sgt. Josh Doggrell said Anniston Police Department officers received a call early Sunday morning of an ongoing theft at a residence on Sherwood Drive. Responders to the incident took eyewitness accounts and an officer was able to stop the suspects vehicle on Blue Mountain Road.

Sgt. Josh Doggrell said officers were able to pick up Lancaster and Boyer “within an hour” of the incident.

A press release from the Police Department said an investigation led to the recovery of the stolen unit.

Doggrell said due to ongoing investigation he could not say if the suspects are connected with other recent thefts of air conditioning units in Anniston.
