Allen Wayne Densen Morgan, 29, of Anniston, is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to a release sent this evening from the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama.
An attempt to reach an FBI spokesman this evening was unsuccessful.
Morgan allegedly used a phone and motor vehicle in his effort to hire someone to kill a man he suspected of raping his wife, the release said.
Morgan was arrested by federal officials Sunday in Oxford after he allegedly told an undercover officer that he would pay him to murder a Munford man. Morgan believed the officer was a member of the KKK at the time, the release stated.
According to the release, Morgan spoke to a man on the phone on Aug. 22 and the men arranged to meet at an Oxford restaurant on Sunday to discuss payment for killing the Munford man.
During that phone conversation, the release notes, Morgan made “explicit threats of how he wanted the man to be tortured and to die a slow, painful death.” Morgan told the man on the phone that he’d previously confronted the man he wanted dead near his Munford residence and fired several shots toward him to “intimidate him,” the release stated.
The case is still under investigation, the release said.
