Alexandria wins Dixie Youth Baseball championship

Alexandria claimed the Dixie Youth Baseball AAA District 2 tournament championship with a 9-2 win against Oxford Black on Saturday morning.

Alexandria took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Ethan Clemons and Jaxson Chaffin scored. In the third, Alexandria increased its lead to 5-0 on runs by Jacob Lloyd, Austin Goode and Griffin Carroll.

Brennan McCullough tallied Oxford's first run in the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the fourth, Will Nichols, Grayson Chaffin and Chase Smitherman came home for Alexandria. Brody Syer scored Oxford's final run in the fifth. Carroll reached home in the Alexandria fifth.

Nichols pitched the first two innings for Alexandria and Dalton Dodd the final four. McCullough and Derek Miller pitched for Oxford.
