TUSCALOOSA – Alabama athletics director Mal Moore remains hospitalized as of noon today, according to the university's athletic communications office. His doctor says he is fine and should be discharged soon.

Moore was admitted to DCH Regional Medical Center on Tuesday evening because of an irregular heartbeat.

"Coach Moore is doing fine," said Dr. James B. Robinson, his personal physician. "He is undergoing a series of tests today and all the results are coming back normal. I anticipate that he will be discharged soon."

Moore, who will turn 73 on Dec. 19, has served as athletics director since 1999. He played at Alabama for Bear Bryant during 1958-62 and served as a Crimson Tide assistant coach, working with defensive backs (1965-70), quarterbacks (1971-74) and offensive coordinator (1975-82 and 1990-93).

He was associated athletics director at Alabama during 1994-99.
