Description:

Where else in Calhoun County can you find LINDSEY HINKLE singing on stage outdoors at a festival? Did you know she opened for Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum recently? What about Joy and Charles Davis bringing in their own special Christian music? Then we have Dwight Smith and Tyrone Young bringing in the "oldies but goodies" and Steve Sullivan and Brandon Young with their lighter and more recent music.  This all takes place in the Weaver Park this Saturday and music isnt all thats going on. There are displays of so many things, too many to mention here. There is a baked goods contest; Best apple pie contest; Tastiest Cornbread contest and lets not forget the prettiest pickling contest. What about all those prizes you can take a chance on winning? And while there why not sign up for the Weaver Alumni, who is responsible for putting all this together. And they do the Easter Egg Hunt and the Christmas Parade not to mention the Community yard sale every July. While youre at the Festival, how about some of that food?  You can come for breakfast, there will be sausage and biscuuits and cinnamon rolls, all homemade and then you can stay and listen to the music while you eat lunch. There will be Philly Cheesesteaks and BBQs; Hot Dogs; popcorn, peanuts, sodas, chips, Hawaiian Ice; Shaved Ice; and so many other things to eat and drink. Then we get to the demonstrations, and what about the KIDS KORNER. Go Fish; Duck Pond, Ring Toss, Jumping things and HUGE slides.  There is so much to see you just have to spend the day.  And while all of this is going on, there is the ALABAMA STATE BMX CHAMPIONSHIP going on at the same time and in the same park.  And the best part of all of this, admission to both events is free. You come and park and spend the day with the whole gang and you will leave feeling like you have been at a ole' time country festival like we used to have. So come on out and join us at the park, wont you?
