Speak Out ... Chemical destruction
|
Re "Avoid the retreatist mindset" (Speaker's Stand, June 18): Letter writer Bob Reaves is all for making Anniston Army Depot the nation's toxic waste dump. People I know will not move into this area now because of the incinerator. Others are living here in a mild fear with their gas mask and air cleaners at the ready just praying nothing bad happens. I say get the military's chemical weapons in our area burned and be gone. Remember, Three Mile Island ran well for a while. Jerry O. Moody A company's bargainI live in a mobile home on my son's beautiful property. Several years ago, Alabama Power Co. coerced us to allow it to cut down three large poplar trees that shaded my front yard. Of course, it agreed to remove the remains, but those remains are still cluttering our front yard. We are still waiting for it to keep its part of the agreement. Betty Day Thanks for the helpThe Calhoun County Department of Human Resources thanks those who donated to the Foster Parent Appreciation Cook Out. We would like to recognize Rep. Lea Fite, Calhoun County Commissioner Rudy Abbott, Coca-Cola Co., HGS Engineering, Inc. and All Saints Creative Arts Center for their donations to support our foster parents and foster children.
