I want to express my appreciation for your recent extended coverage of the chemical weapons issue. The series of articles was extremely thorough and presented a well-balanced perspective. While your newspaper has been accused by those opposing incineration as being biased toward this process, I would challenge those critics to say that you didn’t give everybody a fair say in this matter.
Such in-depth reporting reveals information we all need to know about, plus it exposes areas where more education is needed.
Special thanks to your reporter, Jason Landers, for digging deep and really doing his homework.

Bravo to the writer for her comments on the lying Roy Moore and the gutless Myron Thompson.I will guarantee you if this was an issue in relation to Thompson’s race he would be banging his gavel all over the place demanding action.

This letter is in response to a letter in your Speak Out column on 6 Jan. regarding “Military Retirees.”I’m not one to say that the retirees’ pay raises should not be more equitable but I am one to say to the writer, “Suck it up buddy.” I spent 30 years in the Army because I wanted to. I fought for America because I wanted to, and for 30 years America’s Army took very good care of me and my family.
Quit crying so much and figure out what more you can do for America instead of getting wrapped around the axle about the almighty dollar.

Thank you, Bud Kitchin, Associates of Kitchin’s Department Store, the groups who made the lovely angels for us to sell, and to our community who graciously supported our annual Angel Sale.We greatly appreciate the generous contributions of time, talent, space and money making our fund-raiser a great success.
All proceeds from this event go toward care of our hospice patients and their families in Calhoun, Cleburne, Talladega and part of St. Clair Counties. Take comfort in knowing that you made a difference in the lives of those who cannot care for themselves.
With deep appreciation, thank you!
