An earlier letter writer should have figured out by now that The Anniston Star is not a newspaper reporting unbiased news. They have an agenda that is solely Democratic only for the good of the party. Their political comics will always bash a Republican president and their stories will always be anything that is opposite of our Republican president. It does not matter if the view is incorrect, wrong, ungodly, immoral, or just plan stupid, their view will be to oppose a Republican.Mr. Brandt Ayers' daddy and granddaddy were Democrats, so Mr. Ayers is too, and so is his company. He has that right. My father, grandfather and fathers before him were also Democrats, but the Democrat agenda has changed so much over the years that it just is not the party of the people any longer. Ask some of those former Democrats that realized this, like Bob Riley.
The Anniston Star will continue to misinform the readers until someone or some group of people come together and form a competitor that will report the news and the truth. Should that day happen, The Star will wonder what happened to all their subscribers, because I believe there is a greater population out there that would appreciate the opportunity to drop The Star like a bad habit. The problem is The Anniston Star is the only full newspaper in town.

Church and state
The Constitution does not specifically use the terms "separation of powers," "interstate commerce" or "fair trial." Are we to assume that it does not guarantee those rights either? Of course not. All of these terms came about as a quick way to communicate legal concepts which are well-known and widely accepted. For that matter, the Bible does not use the terms Trinity, Christmas, Eucharist or Immaculate Conception, yet most Biblical scholars agree that it teaches these concepts.
Opponents of church-state separation should attempt to debate the real issues. Maybe they know this can't be done, so spurious nitpicking about vocabulary is the only thing they have left.

Judge Moore
Judge Moore has little respect for secular law, but bases his agenda on God's Law. The Declaration of Independence says, "governments are instituted among men, deriving their just power from the consent of the governed ..." Judge Moore bragged that he did not get their consent.Amendment One of the U.S. Constitution says that the right to petition shall not be abridged. When the people came to the court with a petition, Roy Moore had the doors locked.
Moore commits the evil and then hides when challenged.
It is against the law to force Alabamians to pay tithes. The floor space, extra security and video cameras used to protect Roy Moore's ministry cost taxpayer dollars.
As Ben Franklin said, "When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power 'tis a sign, I apprehend, of it being a bad one."

Lots of signatures
The letter printed in The Star's Speak Out column on Sept. 7 by Elizabeth Crowe was excellent. One thing The Star failed to mention is that more than 50 individuals representing numerous and various groups signed onto the letter. I signed on to it myself. Although I recognize that you don't have space to list every one individually, The Star did have room to note the number of individuals and/or groups that signed on to the letter.
