BROCK

LEESBURG — A private memorial service will be at for Ruth P. Brock, 87, who passed away at her home on August 30, 2008. She is survived by daughter, Sarah Scaduto, of Leesburg; sons, Tom (Micki) Brock, of Ft. Payne and Dewey (Julia) Brock, of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton D. Brock. Mrs. Brock, a former Jacksonville resident, was a hairdresser in Anniston for over 40 years. She will be remembered for her kind, generous nature. She loved fishing, Braves baseball, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

BUSBY

OXFORD — Funeral services for Mr. Charles Edward Busby, age 86, will be 2 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2008, at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Woods officiating. The body will lie in state an hour prior to services. The family will receive friends from 5-8 this evening at Miller Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery. Mr. Busby died Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. Mr. Busby is survived by his wife, Joy Elizabeth Busby, of Oxford; three daughters, Brenda Ray and husband Macon, of Eastaboga, Sherry Pirkle and husband Jimmy, of Pell City and Mae Cheatwood and husband Stanley, of Oxford; son, Charles Busby and wife Anita, of Oxford; sister, Doris Almaroad; eight grandchildren, Mont Pirkle (Wendy), Stacy Powell (Jason), Heath Ray (Kathy), Casey Humphries (Corey), Bambi Cochran, Autumn Busby, Holly Busby and Troy Busby; great-grandchildren, Emma Ray, Haley Humphries, Mack Humphries, and Claire Humphries. Mr. Busby was a native of Aragon, Ga., but has lived in Calhoun County for the past 80 years. He was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church in Oxford and was a deacon for over 50 years. Mr. Busby served in the Army for 2 Ω years and was WWII veteran where he was a P.O.W. for the last four months of the war. He retired from C.M. Offray after 40 years of service. Mr. Busby was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Busby and Nora Mae Murphy Busby; four sisters, Gertrude Mullendore, Glenda House, Lucy Carpenter and Mary Henderson; and grandson-in-law, Brad Cochran.

GREEN

JACKSONVILLE — Funeral services for Perry Knox Green, 72, will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Williams with the Rev. Dr. Michael Oliver and the Rev. Dr. Barry Howard officiating. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church of Williams Cemetery with K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center directing services. The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at the church. Mr. Green died Tuesday in Jacksonville. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wanda Jones Green, of Jacksonville; two daughters, Lisa Green (Bob) Creel, of Helena and Donna Green (Brent) Thomas, of Jacksonville; a son, Erik Knox (Angie) Green, of Chatsworth, Ga; three grandchildren, Ashley and Michelle Thomas and Ben Creel; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ronny Jones, Wendell McGinnis, Tyler Ponder, Tyron Green, Brian Boozer and Bobby Boozer. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Green was a pillar of the Williams Community and the First Baptist Church of Williams. He was chairman of deacons at the time of his death. He was a master patternmaker and an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed spending time on his farm, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and other service projects. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lawrence and Rebecca Wilkins Green and two brothers, Maurice L. Green and William Green.

HANNA

JACKSONVILLE — Funeral services for Mr. Emmitt Hanna Jr. will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2008, at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Clarence Shuford officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Anniston with Anniston Funeral services in charge. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour prior to services. Mr. Hanna died Sunday, August 31, 2008, at RMC.

Survivors include his mother, Ester Hanna; a lifelong partner, Diane Smith; four sons, J.C. Bossie, of Weaver, Farricus Keyon Smith, Derrick Bossie, both of Anniston and Eric (Shaniqua) Bossie, of Jacksonville; two daughters, Shekeria Volece Bossie, of Weaver and Deidra Sowell, of Alabaster; three sisters, Greata Hanna Roberson, of Hobson City, Audrey (James) Wade, of Oxford and Phyllis (Clarence) Buford Jr., of Oxford; six grandchildren and special cousin, Milton Hanna. Mr. Hanna was a Hobson City native and was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church and attended Calhoun County Training School and a Oxford High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Army and attended Gadsden Business College and Morehouse in Atlanta, Ga. He also worked at Anniston Army Depot and received a diploma at the Blood and Fire Ministries for discipleship in Atlanta, Ga. The family will accept flowers at Anniston Funeral services. HUMPHRIES

ACWORTH, Ga. — James Jay Humphries, 56, Formerly of Anniston died, Monday, September 1, 2008. at Kennestone Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; a son Jason; daughter Nikki; his mother Joyce Humphries, brother John, and sister Jan Martin. Jay will be remembered for his generous nature, passion for life and his determination to never let his disabilities stop him from experiencing and enjoying life. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to the March of Dimes or your own church.

PATTERSON

ANNISTON — Funeral services for Michael Cody Patterson, 21, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2008, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with the Reverend Dr. Randy Hagan and the Reverend Dr. Bill Snow officiating and interment following at Eulaton First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 this evening from at the funeral home. Cody passed away Monday, September 1, 2008, at his residence. Cody is survived by his parents, Terry Patterson and Pat Martin Patterson; his sister, Haley Patterson; his grandmother, Pauline Patterson; his fiance, Michelle Mundy; and best friends, Dillon Thomas, Chris Murphree and Justin Salter. Cody is preceded in death by his grandparents, Rex Patterson and Floy and Martha Martin, all of Anniston.
