OXFORD — Funeral services for Charles E. Kelley, 58 of Oxford, will be 2 p.m. today at Concord Baptist Church in Cleburne County with the Rev. Randall Moore and the Rev. Lewis Roszell officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before service time at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Kelley died Friday at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Roszell Kelley; two daughters, Angie McHugh and her husband Rob, and Wendy Sprayberry and her husband Victor; six grandchildren; Colby Kelley, Kalee Easterwood, Braxton Sprayberry, Addye Sprayberry, Ridge McHugh and Cove McHugh; two brothers, Frank Anderson and Terry Kelley.
Pallbearers will be Jody Roszell, Brian Roszell, Scott Roszell, Richie Anderson, Robby Benefield and Frank Hagan. Mr. Kelley was a resident of Oxford and a member of Concord Baptist Church and worked at the Anniston Army Depot. He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Lexi, Riley Reid and Bailey Rae McHugh; parents, Charlie J. and Edna Kelley; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Louise Roszell; and a brother, William Anderson. BIRMINGHAM — Services for Ms. Gwendolyn Y. Smith, 45, formerly of Anniston, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Faith Baptist Church in Anniston with the Reverend Mark Estell officiating and interment following in the Anniston Memorial Gardens. The body will be at the church 1 hour prior to the service with Ervin Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements. Ms. Smith passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. She briefly attended Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville Ala. and Fayetteville State in Fayetteville, N.C. And worked briefly as an Accountant.
Survivors include her three children, Antonio P. Smith, Aleisha M. Smith and George Lee Cooley III, of Saks, Ala; Her parents, Command Sergeant Major (retired) James Lee Smith Sr. and Verlily Ann Smith, of Saks; her three siblings, James Lee ( Tamara) Smith Jr., of Newport News Va., Cynthia (Gaston) of Oxford, Ala. and Tiffany (Ennis) Williams, of Fayetteville, N.C.; her maternal grandmother, Sarah P. Bessellieu, of Pawleys Island S.C.; and her paternal grandmother, Lula Bell Smith, of Las Vegas, Nev.; her niece, Camelle Calhoun and nephews, Nathaniel Williams and James Smith; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; and a very dear friend, Mary Hubbard. JACKSONVILLE — Funeral services for Mr. Earl Thomas (Tommy) Woodall, 63, will be Monday, August 25, 2008 at 2 p.m. at K.L. Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. William Cain and the Bro. Bill Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home. Mr. Woodall went to be with the Lord Friday, August 22, 2008 at his home in Jacksonville. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Geraldine Smith Woodall; two brothers, Gary (Wanda) Woodall, of Wellington; Ricky (Bekki) Woodall, of Oxford; and 11 nieces and six nephews; Alicia Austin, niece and Al Coone, nephew, were especially fortunate to have shared a special closeness with their "Uncle Tommy." He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl L. Woodall and Ruby McFall Woodall.
Pallbearers will be Gary Woodall, Ricky Woodall, Joe Austin, Henry Smith, Harold Smith and Jim Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers from the Anniston Army Depot. Tommy was born March 25, 1945 in Anniston, graduated from Jacksonville High School and was a life-long resident of Jacksonville. He co-owned Armstrong Florist in Jacksonville with his wife, Geraldine. He was employed with Anniston Army Depot for 26 years, was a Vietnam Veteran, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Tommy will be remembered for his gentle spirit and his love of Alabama Football, but more importantly for his role as a loving husband, brother, uncle and brother-in-law.
