BOWMAN

GADSDEN — Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Crestwood Chapel for James Alton Bowman, 80, who died August 8, 2008. the Rev. Stanley Duke and The Rev. Mike Brinkman will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home will direct. Mr. Bowman was born September 30, 1927 in Moody. He moved to Oxford, Ala. and graduated from Oxford High School in 1946. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1947 until 1955. He retired from LTV Steel in 1990 after 34 years of service. He was a member of East Gadsden Methodist Church, where he had served on the Administrative Board. He is survived by his wife, Bettie S. Bowman; children, Kyle G. Bowman (Judy), Cynthia A. Short (Jimmie), Louise B. Stocks (JB), and Oscar Bowman (Angela); 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe M. Bowman, Marietta, Ga., Howard E. Bowman, Cartersville, Ga.; sisters, Norvelle Nestor, Annison, Nelda Snider, Eastaboga, Laura Beasley, Oxford, Wanda Bryce, Villa Rica, Ga. and Gail Duke, Valley. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ethel P. Bowman; sisters, Mitylene Brickhouse, Marquritte Nixon, and Doris Maddox.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Gadsden United Methodist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fellowship Sunday School Class.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Nixon, Ben Johnston, Gene Nixon, Bryant Maddox, and Tim Bryce. The family would like to express Special Thanks to Amedisys Hospice, especially Jay Beggs, Angela Lawallen, Laura Boley, and Lisa Burchett. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

FARLOW

WEAVER — Graveside services for Ramona Jean Farlow, 70, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2008, at Anniston Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Neal Hodo officiating. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary. Mrs. Farlow died August 7, 2008 at Jacksonville Health and Rehab.

Survivors include daughter, Vicki Starr, of Weaver; son, Paul Farlow and wife, Brenda, of Alexandria; grandchildren, Michael Starr and wife, Jessica, of Weaver, Evan Farlow, Erin Farlow, Eric Farlow, all of Alexandria; one great-grandchild, Tanner Starr, of Weaver; mother, Dorothy R. Wolfe, of Weaver; sisters, Carrol Sparks, of Winston Salem, N.C., Nancy Miller, of Wilmington, N.C., JoAnn Pratt, of Anniston; and brother, Tom Wilson, of Greensboro, N.C. Mrs. Farlow was preceded in death by her husband, Jim A. Farlow; brothers, Karl Tashinori, and Kudo Wolfe; and father, Paul J. Wolfe. Mrs. Farlow was a lifelong resident of Weaver and worked for many years as a Water Department Clerk for the city of Weaver. In recent years, she worked at Winn-Dixie in Jacksonville. She was also a member of the Weaver 1st United Methodist Church. She was an avid Alabama Fan and longtime supporter of Weaver High School Athletics.

GRAY

CEDAR BLUFF — Funeral services for Mrs. Gartrell Hudgins Gray, 76, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Perry Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5-8 tonight.

LAMBERTH

OXFORD — Funeral services for Mrs. Allie Maude Lamberth, 95, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Clay County Funeral Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service.

LANG

OXFORD — Funeral services for Melissa D. Lang, 53, who died August 7, 2008, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Village Chapel Funeral Home in Gadsden. the Reverends Johnny Johnson and Tony Thrower will officiate. Burial will be at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Lang attended Gateway Ministries of Oxford. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and friend, who loved the Lord with all her heart. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lindsey Lang. She is survived by her husband, Travis Lang; children, Wade Lang, Angela Lang, Patrick (Ann) Lang and Derek Lang; parents, Gerald and Barbara Light; sister, Sharon Light; brothers, Greg Light and Mark (Brennon) Light; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend, Jackie Hayes.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Lang, Michael Denaburg, Jerry Cramer, John Billingsley, Phillip Billingsley, John Paul Billingsley, Sam Harper and Josh Gardner.

WILKES

CEDARTOWN, Ga. — Graveside services for Joyce P. Wilkes will be Sunday, August 10, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the Northview Cemetery. Visitation from 6-9 tonight at Litesey Funeral Home.

WILLS

ASHLAND — Funeral service for Shane Wills, 31, will be Sunday, August 10, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home Chapel in Lineville. Burial will follow in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 this evening and until service time on Sunday. Benefield/Lineville in charge of the arrangements.

WRIGHT

PIEDMONT — Funeral services for Shirley Mae Hulsey Wright, 72, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home with Mr. Argin Hulsey and the Rev. Philip Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Mrs. Wright died Thursday, August 7, 2008, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene Stephen "Steve" Wright III (Cathy), of Montgomery and Tony Fred Wright, of Piedmont; one daughter, Sharon Anderson (Eric), of Piedmont; five grandchildren, Shannon Wright, Reece Anderson, Cody Wright, Austin Anderson and Preston Wright; two sisters, Helen Jennings (Floyd) and Cynthia Harper (Randy), all of Piedmont; one brother, Argin Hulsey Jr., of Piedmont; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Jim Wilson, John Wilson, Floyd Jennings Jr., Lewis Jennings, Sparks Harper and Randy Houck. Mrs. Wright was a Piedmont native and resident most of her life. She was director of the Piedmont Senior Citizens Center and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Stephen Wright Jr.; a grandson, Tony Fred Wright Jr.; and her parents, Odum and Willie Hulsey. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, MidSouth Division, Region 7, 1100 Ireland Way, Ste. 201, Birmingham, Ala. 35205.

YOUNG

ANNISTON — Services for Mr. Roderick Young, 47, will be announced by Ervin Funeral Chapel. Mr. Young died Saturday, August 8, 2008, at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.
