BOLTON

ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Alice Bolton, 67, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008, at Living By Faith Ministries in Oxford with The Pastor Robert McClain officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Gardens with Anniston Funeral services in charge. The body will be at the church one hour prior to services. Mrs. Bolton died on July 26, 2008 at her residence.

Survivors include her son, Ben Bolton III, of Anniston; her father, Johnny Hines, of Talladega; special cousins, Grace (Albert) Terry, of Los Angeles, Calif., Linda (Robert) Simmons, of Millerville, Joe (Marion) McKenny, of Huntersville, N.C., Stacy (Carl) Corbett, of Anniston, Carolyn and Brycie Staples, of Norcross, Ga., Frank (Eva) Wilson, of Chicago, Ill., Louise Hayes, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Thomas (Diane) Chatman, of Panama City, Fla. and Sadie Inez Sims, of Ashland. Mary will be missed and remembered by family and relatives and a host of devoted friends, too numerous to name, but all of whom shared a special bond. Mrs. Bolton was a life long resident and a member of the Word Alive International Ministry. She was educated in the Calhoun County School System and continued her formal education at Alabama State University in Montgomery where she graduated in 1963. She taught in several school systems and became teaching in Anniston City School System in 1973. She was a devoted and dedicated teacher for over thirty years receiving the Teacher of the Year Award in 1984-85. Before retiring in 2003, she served as a Parent Specialist. BRYANT

ANNISTON — David W. Bryant Sr., 67, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at UAB Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Glenda; one son, David Winston Bryant Jr. and his wife, Kaye; daughter, Cristie Smith and her husband, Tim; four grandchildren, Kayla Bryant, Sam, Chloe, and Julianne Smith; his mother, Marzie Bryant of Bell, Fla.; three sisters, Yvonne Sanders and husband, Harold, Janice Wilcox and husband, Don, and Linda Burnett and husband, Jimmy; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Bryant is preceded in death by his father, Z.G. Bryant. David was a native of Gilchrist County, Fla. and a graduate of the University of Florida Forest Ranger School. He was in the forest industry for 45 years and was the owner of Foothills Timber Co. Inc. in Heflin, Ala. He was a member of the Alabama Forestry Association and an officer and trustee of the Forest Fund for 21 years. He was also a former director of Colonial Bank. Mr. Bryant served as a Deacon in the Baptist church for 35 years. He was a member of Golden Springs Baptist Church. A memorial service will be at today, August 1, 2008, at 3 p.m. at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be loggers and forest industry friends.

HOUSTON, Texas — William Clifford Burns (Cliff) died on Monday, July 28, 2008 in Houston, Texas. Services will be Saturday, August 2, 2008, at 2 p.m. from Roanoke First United Methodist Church with the Reverends Steve Baccus and Paul Messer officiating. Burial immediately follows in Roanoke Memory Garden. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Cliff was born in Wedowee on September 12, 1922, son of the late H.T. and Molly Moore Burns. Also preceding him is his beloved wife of 60 years, Helen Richard Burns; three sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his brother, Moore and Teresa Burns, of Auburn; two daughters, Cindy and Hy Rothstein, of Pebble Beach, Calif., Mary and Gary Roberts, of Spring, Texas; four grandchildren, Rebekah Rothstein, of San Francisco, Calif., Paul Rothstein, of Wilmington, N.C., Ashley and Stewart Shurtleff, of Dallas, Texas, Audrey and Justin Norris, of Spring, Texas; two great-grandchildren, William Shurtleff and Hunter Norris; numerous nieces and nephews. CROSBY

ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mr. Bob Crosby, 66, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2008, at Gray Brown Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. EVANS

ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mrs. Marhea O'Keeffe Evans will be at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2008, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with The Reverend Bryan Lowe officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. A Prayer Service will follow the visitation. Mrs. Evans died July 31, 2008. Mrs. Evans was born in Haverhill, Mass. in 1917 and graduated from Stoneleigh College, New Hampshire. After living in Chicago and Pennsylvania, she moved to Anniston in 1962 when her husband became sales manager of M&H Valve Co. She was a charter member of the Board of Directors of the Knox Concert Series and a volunteer for close to 40 years. She "Reach to Recovery" program of the American Cancer Society. She was a longtime member of the Athena Study Club and a member of the Junior League. Since her arrival in Anniston, she has been an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church as an Altar Society member and serving on numerous committees. Mrs. Evans is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Marilyn Wiegman, of Fairfield, Conn., Tricia Evans of Anniston, and Marcia Evans and Frank Shafroth, of Alexandria, Va.; and five grandchildren, Katie Wilder, Sara Staats, Nathan Shafroth, Abigail Shafroth, and William Shafroth.

WISCONSIN — A memorial service for Mr. Richard Andrew Forsyth, 59, formerly of Anniston, who passed away, July 26, 2008, will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m., at the chapel of Miller Funeral Home and Crematory. the Rev. Brian Simpson will officiate and the family will receive friends Saturday, at 3 p.m. until time for the service at the funeral home. Richard was originally from Anniston. For the past 40 years, he was a resident of Wisconsin. He was an avid fisherman and loved his work making boats. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene Forsyth and Clydell Evans Dotson; and brother, Eugene Forsyth. Richard is survived by his children, Tim Forsyth, Ricky Forsyth Jr., Chrissy Forsyth, Andrea Forsyth, Tammy Forsyth; sisters, Pat (Roy) Bryant, Anniston, Ramona (Larry) Third, Titusville, Fla., Jeanie (Brian) Simpson, Wesley Chapel, Fla.; brothers, Ron (Sharon) Forsyth, Jacksonville, Steve (Debbie) Dotson, Weaver; step-father, Gene E. ROANOKE — Clyde A. Hartley, 77, a resident of Roanoke and a former resident of Guntersville passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Grace Hartley, of Roanoke; son, Randy Hartley (Alice), of Jeffersonville, Ind.; daughter, Bonnie Emery (Ricky), of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Jessica, John and Allison Emery, Faith and Kelly Hartley; sister, Carolyn Snyder, of Muscle Shoals; brother, Dan Hartley, of Montgomery; caregivers, Barbara Williams, Misty Jennings, Vernelle Billingsley and Mary Johnson. He was born in Greenville, Ala.; was a veteran of the United States Army; retired from the State of Alabama Dept. of Industrial Relations and pastored at numerous churches in Alabama in a ministry of over 50 years. Funeral services will be 2:30 today, August 1, 2008, from Alabama Heritage with the Rev. Ricky Emery and the Rev. Chuck Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. CENTRE — Funeral services for Mr. Billy Ray Kelley, 62, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

AKRON, Ohio — Funeral services for Mrs. Clevie Mae Mitchell, 83, formerly of Talladega, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008, at Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church with The Pastor Edward Mitchell, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Talladega with Anniston Funeral services in charge. The body will be at the church two hours prior. Mrs. Mitchell died on Friday, July 25, 2008, at her residence in Akron, Ohio.

Survivors include, five daughters, Ms. Linda Batties, of Akron, Ohio, Ms. Martha K. Mitchell, of Atlanta, Ga., Ms. Mary V. Hamilton, Ms. Debra P. Simmons and Ms. Mae Frances (Alvin Smith) Funderburg, all of Talladega; two sons, Pastor Edward E. (Eva) Mitchell Sr., of Fayetteville, N.C. and Darryl B. Mitchell, of Talladega; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; special Godson, Mr. Larry Reynolds. Mrs. Mitchell was a Talladega native and a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Talladega. She had resided in Akron for the past eight years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Cleveland Mitchell and Ollie Thomas Mitchell; sister, Mary Olivia Garrett; uncle, Eunice Thomas; special godson, Donald (Bruno) Nabors; and grandparents. ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Talmedge Dalton Norris, 80, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008, at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with the Rev. Mark Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 at the funeral home. Mrs. Norris passed away Wednesday at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Olivia Arnold and husband, Larry Ray; two grandsons, Edward Gary Warren and wife, Lauren B. and Chris Lee Warren and wife, Kimberly Lee; four great-grandchildren, Mary Grace Warren, DaKota Justice Warren, Destin Hunter Warren and William Dalton Warren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Norris is preceded in death by her husband John Peter Norris and a son, David Devant Norris.

Pallbearers will be Garland Hyatt, Kenneth Lockridge, Preston Hale, Harold Norris, Ronald Norris and Bobbie Norris. Mrs. Norris is a native and live long resident of Anniston and a member of Word Alive Church in Coldwater. She retired from Wal-Mart with over 25 years of service. ANNISTON — Funeral service for Freda Lynn Cunningham Thomas, 44, will be noon Saturday, August 2, 2008, at Greater Thankful Baptist Church with Apostle Andre Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the Anniston Memorial Gardens with Goodson Funeral Home directing. Public visitation will be from 12 today until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
