Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge. PIEDMONT — Services for Carolyn Lindsey Gaines, 60, of Piedmont will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Philip Cooper and Dr. Ed Coogler officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Mrs. Gaines died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at her home. She is survived by her husband, William C. Gaines, of Piedmont; one step-daughter, Cathy Gaines, of Cartersville, Ga.; two step-sons, Rodney Gaines, of Piedmont and Danny Gaines, of Cartersville, Ga.; her father, Herman Lindsey, of Piedmont; one sister, Diana Rogers (Jimmy), of Cedartown, Ga.; and three nephews, Matt Rogers, of Piedmont, Michael Lindsey (Heather) and Jeffery Lindsey, all of Rome, Ga. Pallbearers will be step-sons and nephews. Mrs. Gaines was born in Rome, Ga. She attended Piedmont City Schools and was a graduate of Jacksonville State University. She taught middle school for 30 years, was an avid animal lover and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Louise Lindsey and by a brother, Steve Lindsey. Mrs. Little passed away Monday, July 28, 2008 at her residence in Ohatchee. Survivors include her husband, Edward L. Little, of Ohatchee; daughters, Julia N. Tomasich and husband, Charles, Deborah L. Arnold and husband, Allan and Emily Lackey and husband, Tim, all of Ohatchee; sisters, Kay Powers, Shelby Walters Pate, Regina Tipps, Brenda Caldera and Ava Milby, all of Texas; brothers, Bud Wiginton and Ricky Wigington, of Texas; grandchildren, Zacahry Arnold and Aubrey Lackey; several nieces and nephews. CALHOUN, Ga. — William Mitchell "Bill" Potts, 46, died Sunday morning, July 27, 2008, at his residence in Calhoun, Ga. Mr. Potts was born in Anniston, Ala., October 14, 1961, a son of Beatrice Plummer Woodruff and the late Thomas Sims Potts. He was an alumnus of The Donoho School, Oak Hill Academy and Bthe Revard College. Bill was descended from the Farish Carter family of the Carter's Quarters Community. He was a former resident of Murray County, Ga. and the Carter's Lake area. He was an active member of Saint Timothy's Episcopal Church of Calhoun, Ga. Mr. Potts is survived by his mother and step-father, Beatrice P. Woodruff and Dr. Gerald G. Woodruff, Jr. of Anniston, Ala.; one brother, Thomas Sims Potts, Jr. and wife, Candice Michele Potts, of Anniston; one sister, Marian Potts Foster and husband, William G. Foster, Jr., of Savannah, Ga.; two nieces, Hellen Lloyd Willett and Laura Landon Foster, both of Savannah; a nephew, James M. Potts, of Anniston; step-brothers and sisters, Gerald G. Mrs. Robinson was also preceded in death by her husband Ernest Robinson and a daughter Sharon Smith. She was a retired nurses aide with National Healthcare. Mrs. Robinson was Baptist by faith.
