Minnie Lee Angle, Anniston ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Lee Angle, 81, will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 at the funeral home. Mrs. Angle passed away Wednesday in Weaver. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge of arrangements. OXFORD — Funeral service for William Henry Dempsey Jr., 87, who passed away July 23, 2008, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. the Rev. Jerry Starling and The Rev. Thereon Williams will officiate and burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends this evening from 6-7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory. Mr. Dempsey was a native of Talladega and a long time resident of Oxford. He was the football captain for Oxford High School, Class of 1941. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He retired from Winn Dixie with 37 years of service. He was a long time member of Lakeview Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, church treasurer, and other numerous committees for many years. His love and commitment was shown over the years as he helped to build not only Lakeview Baptist Church, but also Golden Springs Baptist and West Anniston Baptist Churches. Mr. Dempsey is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dot Dempsey, children, Bill and his wife Lynne Dempsey, Beth and her husband, Keith Badgett; grandson, Corey Badgett; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rodney Dempsey, Jody Dempsey, John Dempsey, John Patterson, Donald McCary, Larry Dempsey, Jay Dempsey, Chester Huckaby, Gerald Owen, and Leroy Gaines. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class at Lakeview Baptist Church and many special friends. ALABASTER — Funeral services for Mrs. Verdell Peterson Hudgins, "Mi Mi", 83, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. John Mark Howell officiating. The family will receive friends this evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forestlawn Gardens. Mrs. Hudgins died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 in Birmingham. Mrs. Hudgins had resided in Oxford for most of her adult life. She was an honorary member of the Cheaha Acres Garden Club. She had lived in Birmingham for the past five years. Mrs. Hudgins was preceded in death by her husband, William Charlie Hudgins, two sisters and four brothers. Mrs. Hudgins is survived by her daughter, Gayle H. Williams and son-in-law, John C. Williams III, of Alabaster; twin granddaughters, Holly W. Snuggs and husband, Randy Snuggs and Diana W. Long and husband, Jason C. Long, all of Hoover; two great-grandchildren, Reid Maxwell Snuggs and Tatum Louise Long; one brother, James H. Peterson of Midland, Ga.; two sisters, Waver P. FORSYTH, Ga. — Barbara Bowman Kiser, 59, formerly of Jacksonville, died July 22, 2008 in Concord, Ga. Funeral services will be Friday, July 25, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home Cremation Center Chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Marvin Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. She is survived by her husband, Hugh Kiser; a daughter, Anita Kiser Miller and her husband, Lem; two sisters, Sharon Bowman Yates and Claudine Bowman; a brother, Jimmy C. Bowman; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Miller; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jerry Bowman, Jimmy Bowman, Rodney Greenwood, Jonathon Greenwood, Michael Reagan and Jerry Kiser. ANNISTON — Funeral services for Betty MacKinlay, 76, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Sherman Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. MacKinlay died Tuesday at NE Alabama Regional Medical Center. Survivors include her children Don, John, Tom and Laura MacKinlay; sister-in-law, Anne Brown; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. MacKinlay; her mother, Bessie J. Newberry and her brother, James R. Brown. Pallbearers will be members of the Hill Crest Baptist Church Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mrs. MacKinlay was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and Hill Crest Baptist Church.
