ALPINE — Funeral services for Mrs. Dean V. Allen, 99, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

BUTLER

CEDAR BLUFF — Graveside services for J.C. Butler, 88, will be at 11 a.m. today at Cherokee Memory Gardens. There will be no visitation. Perry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

ROANOKE — Funeral services for Kermit Desmer Butler, 87, will be at 1 p.m. Friday from the Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel. Visitation from 12-1 pm. Quattlebaum Funeral Home.

GRANT

ANNISTON — Homer Allen Grant, 94, died July 14, 2008 at Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Elam Baptist Church Cemetery in Tallassee. the Rev. David Hooks will officiate. Visitation will be at Elam Baptist Church for 30 minutes prior to service. Survivors are one brother, Truett (Louneal) Grant, Tallassee; two brothers-in-law, Sam Elkins, Gadsden, and Mack (Florine) Elkins, Anniston; a special niece, Nancy Pearson Green, Talladega; and many other nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Talladega County Child Advocacy Center, 305 S. Court Street, Talladega, Ala. 35160. Corbitt's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

JACKSONVILLE — Funeral service for Mrs. Ruby M. Miller, 88, of Jacksonville will be at 12 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Samuel Hooper and Tommy Blew officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home this evening 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Miller passed away Monday, July 14, 2008, at her residence. Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughters, Shirley J. Cockrell, Jewell D. Bright and husband, Charles, Joyce Ann Bateman and husband Dennis; son, Horace J. Jenkins; sister, Rachel Smith; brother, Cary G. Harris; grandchildren, Kenneth and Stephen Harris, Cindy Ramero and husband, Robert, Rodney, Timothy and Mike Jenkins, Charles Bevins; great- grandchildren, Krystal Bolts, Holly Newman, David and Randy Harris, Anna Ramero, Malessa, Kaleb, Austin, Gaebril and Alyssa Jenkins; great- great-grandchildren, Michael Jacob and Joshua Tyler Bolts, Courtney Newman.

Pallbearers will be Larry Blew, Randell Fortenberry, Norris Fortenberry, Mike Jenkins, Harold Parris, Frank Bell and Norris Hunt. Mrs. Miller was a Calhoun County native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Miller, son, James Jenkins and grandson Puncho Jenkins. BUFFALO, N.Y. — Funeral service for Robert Veasley, 69, formerly of Anniston, will be at 12 p.m. today, July 16, 2008, at Goodson Funeral Home with the Rev. Mario F. McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in the Jacksonville City Cemetery with Goodson Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include wife Loretta; daughter Kristian; stepmother, Martha Veasley; six brothers, Arthur Williams, Otho Williams, Andre Walker, Thomas Parker, Lenn Veasley, Benjamin Veasley; six sisters, Barbara Vaughn, Dora Reese, Althea Reese, Rose Reese, Eulia Salter, Louise Veasley. www.goodsonfuneralhome.net
