BRAZIER

WETUMPKA — Dr. Tarrice Secborn Brazier, D.M.D., 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Wetumpka, Alabama, Wednesday, May 7, 2008, following a courageous battle with leukemia. A memorial service will be at today, May 10, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with visitation with the family beginning at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his only child, Zebbie and her husband, Richard Nix, of Evergreen, Ala; and two beloved grandchildren, Kelsey and Davis. Born July 30, 1938, in Pell City, Alabama, to the late Buster and Florene Brazier, Tarrice was an only child and was raised and attended school there and graduated from Pell City High School in 1956. He was a strong student and was motivated to further his education. He was the first in his family to attend college. Accepted by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, he was initiated into the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity on September 21, 1957 and was a true brother for life. There was never a bigger fan of Alabama football, he attended every game possible, always taking family members and sharing the experiences with his many fan friends. Many seasons included Tarrice in the stadium for every home game and many away games, cheering on the Tide through good years and not so good years. He was also an avid white-water rafting enthusiast and deep sea fisherman, once winning the Destin Rodeo with the largest white marlin. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1961, Tarrice entered dental school and earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama in 1965. Thereafter, he began a long and successful dental practice, first in Georgiana, then in Montgomery, helping many patients over the years. He was a member in good standing of the Alabama Dental Association all of his professional life, and was elected to lifetime membership in 2003. He was also a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Delta, a national dental fraternity. Dr. Brazier was a member of Frazer United Methodist Church, serving faithfully on the Board of Stewards and on mission trips to Central and South America. ALPINE — Mrs. Mary J. Garrett, 59, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at her residence. Services will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

HANNAH

WELLINGTON — Funeral services for Ervin C. Hannah, 92, of Wellington, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Reaves and the Rev. Bryan Williams officiating. Burial will be in Crook Cemetery in Ohatchee. The family will receive friends 4-6 tonight at the funeral home. Mr. Hannah died Thursday at North East Alabama Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Julia Mae Hannah; sons, Frank Hannah, of Wellington, David (June) Hannah, of Alexandria and Thomas Stedham, of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Amy (Tommy) Spurling, of Rainbow City, Eddie (Jennifer) Hannah, of Temple, Texas, Brandon Martin, of Pleasant Valley and Amber (Jacob) McCutcheon, of Southside; great-grandchildren, Hunter Lee Zuchelli, Terra Brooke Spurling, Tori Spurling, JoAnna McCutcheon and Brody McCutcheon; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Lee Johnson, Bryan Johnson, Brandon Martin, Tom Bryant, Bobby Douthit, and Tommy Spurling. Honorary pallbearers will be Errol Hayes, Carl Hammonds and the Deacons of Hebron Church. TALLASSEE — Funeral services for Mr. Terry Holmes will be at 7 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008, at Jeffcoat-Linville Chapel with the Rev. Mark Brumbeloe officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Roselawn Cemetery, in Decatur with burial following. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2 p.m. at the graveside. Visitation will be Monday, May 12, 2008, from 5-7 p.m., at Jeffcoat-Linville Funeral Home. Mr. Terry, 93, died May 8, 2008. He was born December 16, 1914. He is survived by wife, Myrtle Holmes, of Tallassee; daughter, Frances Richards, of Decatur, Ala.; son, George Glenn (Dorothy), of Alexandria; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Terry was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Holmes; sisters, Virsie Haynes and Nellon Hill; and a son, Gene Holmes. McCULLOUGH

PIEDMONT — Services for Wallace Russell McCullough Jr., 81, will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Dr. Ed Coogler and the Rev. Philip Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 tonight at the funeral home. Mr. McCullough died Friday, May 09, 2008, at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Roberta McCullough; one son, Stuart McCullough (Teresa), of Powder Springs, Ga.; two daughters, Jan Conway (Bill), of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Angie Stanford (Steve), of Huntsville; five grandchildren, Matt McCullough and his wife, Christi, Clare Conway, Will Conway, Jay Stanford and Sam Stanford; one sister, Peggy Brown, of Jacksonville; one brother, Doug McCullough of Thompson's Station, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Roy Edwards, John Strickland, Stan Jones, Stanley Todd, Al Coble, Doug Borden, Sammy Holbrooks and Paul Harper. Mr. McCullough, a resident of Piedmont most all of his life; was a 1945 graduate of Piedmont High School and a 1950 graduate of Jacksonville State University. He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. He retired from the Anniston Army Depot with 35 years service; was a member of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont, where he had served as a deacon; was a member of the Brotherhood, Carpenters for Christ, and the Brotherhood Sunday School Class. He had been a member of Lozahatchee Masonic Lodge #97 F&AM for over 50 years; had been a member of Lozahatchee #99 Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and was a long time member of the Piedmont Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. McCullough, Sr. and by a granddaughter, Hannah Jane Conway. WHATLEY

ALEXANDER CITY — Funeral services for Lt. Col. Wayne B. Whatley, 78, of Alexander City, will be 2 p.m. today at the Alexander City Church of Christ. The Bro. John David Parker and The Bro. James Cullins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park with full military honors provided by the United States Army. Lt. Whatley passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008. He was born on June 26, 1929 in Oklahoma to Grover Cleveland Whatley and Berta Zella Woodhull Whatley. He was a member of the Alexander City Church of Christ and was also an elder at Anniston Church of Christ. He received a BS degree from Jacksonville State University and MS and AA from Auburn University and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army after twenty four years. Mr. Whatley was a member of the 82nd All American Airborne and 101st Screaming Eagles and served as a Battalion Commander twice in Vietnam. He was also an Educator, having been a Principal at New Site High School and a teacher in the Talladega City School System. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Daphene B. Whatley, of Alexander City; daughter, Lisa Lanier (Greg), of Auburn; sons, Roger Whatley (Carol), of Georgetown, Texas and Michael Whatley, of Alexander City; grandchildren, Anne Marie Lanier, Jennifer W. Chambers (Jeff), Sarah W. Westerfield (Josh), Peter Lanier, Alana Whatley and Alison Lanier; great-grandchild, Elise Chambers; brothers, William J. Whatley (Tonya), of Anniston, Rex Whatley (Joy), of Sallisaw, Okla. and Frank Whatley (Nellie), of Tulsa, Okla.; sister-in-law, Marie Whatley, of Washington State and Sibyl Hanson, of New Site; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Billie Louise Whatley; and brother, Eugene Whatley.
