BRAZIER

WETUMPKA — Dr. Tarrice Secborn Brazier, D.M.D., 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Wetumpka, Alabama, Wednesday, May 7, 2008, following a courageous battle with leukemia. A memorial service will be at Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with visitation with the family beginning at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his only child, Zebbie and her husband, Richard Nix, of Evergreen, Ala; and two beloved grandchildren, Kelsey and Davis. Born July 30, 1938, in Pell City, Alabama, to the late Buster and Florene Brazier, Tarrice was an only child and was raised and attended school there and graduated from Pell City High School in 1956. He was a strong student and was motivated to further his education. He was the first in his family to attend college. Accepted by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, he was initiated into the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity on September 21, 1957 and was a true brother for life. There was never a bigger fan of Alabama football, he attended every game possible, always taking family members and sharing the experiences with his many fan friends. Many seasons included Tarrice in the stadium for every home game and many away games, cheering on the Tide through good years and not so good years. He was also an avid white-water rafting enthusiast and deep sea fisherman, once winning the Destin Rodeo with the largest white marlin. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1961, Tarrice entered dental school and earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama in 1965. Thereafter, he began a long and successful dental practice, first in Georgiana, then in Montgomery, helping many patients over the years. He was a member in good standing of the Alabama Dental Association all of his professional life, and was elected to lifetime membership in 2003. He was also a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Delta, a national dental fraternity. Dr. Brazier was a member of Frazer United Methodist Church, serving faithfully on the Board of Stewards and on mission trips to Central and South America. ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mr. Charles L. Colston Sr., 72, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Ervin Funeral Chapel of Chimes with the Rev. Curtis McGhee officiating. DEMPSEY

FAYETTE — Services for Leah Frances Sessums Dempsey, 94, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Forestlawn Gardens Mausoleum with Dr. Ricky Reeves officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Forestlawn Gardens. Mrs. Dempsey died May 8, 2008 at the Fayette Medical Center Long Term Care, Fayette, Ala. Mrs. Dempsey was born February 1, 1914 in Jacksonville, Ala. She grew up and lived in the Anniston area until 2001 when she moved to Fayette, Ala. to be near her niece. Mrs. Dempsey is widely known in Anniston having taught business courses for over 60 years. Mrs. Dempsey attended school in Jacksonville and was a graduate of Gregg College in Chicago, Ill. She began her teaching career at an early age and taught with the Late F.A. McCartney at the Anniston Business College and later purchased this school. Mrs. Dempsey owned and taught at the Anniston Secretarial School of which was later sold to the Gadsden Business College. Mrs. Dempsey remained a part of the Gadsden College until well into her 80's. She also was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, Anniston, Ala.

Survivors include, a niece, Rosemary C. (William O. III) Knowlton, Fayette, Ala.; nephew, John (Jeanie) Ayer, Ga.; three great-nephews, Todd II Knowlton, Nashville, Tenn., William O. Knowlton, IV, Cullman, Ala. and Matthew G. Knowlton, Birmingham, Ala.; great-niece, Courtney Ayer, Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Dempsey is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Dennis Dempsey; parents, John Joseph and Annie Seaman Sessums; sisters, Mary C. (Mrs. J.S.) Bobo, Evelyn (Sid) Ayer; brother, John Sessums; sister-in law, Inez Dempsey (H.G.) Chaney.

COLDWATER — Funeral services for William Kenneth Digby, 80, who passed away May 8, 2008, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coldwater Baptist Church. the Rev. Jacky Morgan and the Rev. Deryl Wood will officiate and burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens, where there will be Masonic Rites. His family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 12-2 p.m. Mr. Digby was a native and life long resident of Calhoun County. He was retired from Anniston Army Depot with 33 1/2 years of service. He was a member of Coldwater Baptist Church and the Hartwell Masonic Lodge #101. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Demris Digby, of Coldwater; children, June Mizzell, of Atlanta, Ga., Steve Digby, of Coldwater, Beverly Lester, of Leesburg, Va.; sisters, Pat Bridis, Miami, Fla., and Nancy Lackey, Arab; grandchildren, Amber Mizzell, CPT Michael Digby M.D., Natalie Geno, and Shelly Kupiec; great-grandchildren, Summer Edgeworth, Micah Digby, Matt Mizzell and Jacob Digby; and several nieces and nephews.

ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mr. Justin W. Jackson, 61, who passed away, May 8, 2008, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home. the Rev. Calvin Brooks and the Rev. Richie Farrow will officiate and burial will be in Shiloh Baptist Cemetery in Delta. He was a native and life long resident of Calhoun County. He was an auctioneer for more than 20 years and well known through out Alabama and Georgia. Mr. Jackson is preceded in death by his mother, Tula Jackson, sister, Linda Witmer, brother, Harold Jackson, and granddaughter, Lindsay Burt. He is survived by his children, Cassandra Jackson Knight, Anthony Wayne Jackson and wife, Angela, Tina Kilgore Sewell and husband, Butch; grandchildren, Lauren Knight, Callie Knight, Bret Jackson, Alyssa Kilgore, Josh Sewell, and Nicole Sewell; brother, Sam Jackson; and sister, Maude Wright.

Mrs. Kirkland is survived by her husband, Charles R. Kirkland, of Villa Rica, Ga.; one son, Michael (Dorothy) Kirkland, of Villa Rica, Ga.; two daughters, Lolita (Eddie) Bullock, of Anniston, and Tammie (Larry) Norfolk, of Tacoma, Wash.; one sister, Gail Caver; three brothers, Derrick Gaddis, Frederick McClure and Christopher McClure; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
