COLLIER

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Funeral service for Martha Linda New Collier, 83, of Stone Mountain and Monticello, Ga, will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008 at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Collier passed away on Thursday in Georgia.

Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Ann Mc Amis of Stone Mountain, Ga, and Deborah Celeste Livers of Monticello, Ga; two sisters, Mary Rosetta New of Monticello, Ga and Annie Louise Chapman of Anniston; two brothers, the Rev. Clifford Lee New of Anniston and the Rev. Raymond E. New of Chattanooga, Tenn., three grandchildren, Rachel Anne McCoy of Monticello, Ga, Barry Elton Mc Amis of Scottsmoor, FL and Karen McAmis Bullion of Norton, VA; great-grandchildren, Celina, Carina, Christian and Hudson, great great-grandchild, Kaden, many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Collier was a native of Anniston and a resident of Stone Mountain and Monticello, Ga area. She retired from BellSouth after 43 years of service. Mrs. Collier was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, she was the first female "Frame Technician" in Atlanta, and she was an award winning Ballroom Dancer. She was a member of Stone Mountain Baptist Tabernacle. Mrs. Collier was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph D. Collier. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge of arrangements (256) 236-3441

ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mrs. Euna Faye Emerson, 78 of Anniston will be , 2:00 p.m., Sunday at Gray Brown Service Chapel with Minister Elbert Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 at Gray Brown. Mrs. Emerson passed away May 2, 2008 at her residence.

Survivors include her husband, Bernard Emerson of Anniston; daughters, Ann Smith and husband, Curtis of Anniston and Jan Emerson of Anniston; sisters Betty Fisher and husband, Max of Georgia, Shirley Stevens and husband, Bill of Texas; brothers, Athel Beasley and wife, Ivalene of Tenn., Morris Beasley and wife, Juanita also of Tenn., Frank Beasley and wife, Irene of Alabama and Murray Beasley and wife, Judy of Oxford and sister-in-law Genese Beasley and two grandchildren Morgan and Christopher Thompson, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Smith, Troy Beasley, Gary Beasley, Wayne Carden, Spence Beasley and Wayne Carden Jr. Mrs. Emerson was a native of Winfield and a resident of Calhoun County for the past 58 years. She was a member of Church of Christ and employed with General Electric for approximately 13 years. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on May 8th. Mrs. Emerson is preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Tennie Beasley, a brother Ellis Beasley and a sister Clairene Burnett. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge of arrangements. CROPWELL — Funeral services for Mr. Herbert Green, 89 will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary. Mr. Green died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at his residence.

THORNTON

WEBSTER CHAPEL — Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Crestwood Chapel for Katie Jane Thornton, 89 of Websters Chapel, who died Thursday, May 1, 2008. the Rev. Emmett Roper, the Rev. Gene Burgess and the Rev. Michael Howard will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. She was a native of Talladega Co. and had been a resident of the Websters Chapel Community for the past 62 years. She was also a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and a homemaker. She is survived by her two sons, Jerry (Bobbie) Thornton, James E. (Shirley)Thornton and a daughter in law Judith Thornton, all of Websters Chapel; eight grandchildren, Lesa (Mike) Lambert, Rhonda (David) Miles, Bryon (Betty) Thornton, Timothy Thornton, Aubrey (April) Thornton, Tracy (Doug) Phillips, Adam (Christie) Thornton, Melissa Thornton; 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee Thornton Sr. and her son Ernest Lee Thornton Jr.

Pallbearers will be Bryon Thornton, Timothy Thornton, Aubrey Thornton, Adam Thornton, Mike Lambert and Doug Phillips.

TIDMORE

CENTRE — Graveside services for Mrs. Ruth Tidmore, 84 will be today at 4 p.m. at Cherokee Memory Garden Mausoleum. Visitation from 2 - 3:30 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home.

YATES

WEDOWEE — Funeral service for Mrs. Gleamer Ilene Douglas Yates, 88, will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Morris, the Rev. David Daniel and the Rev. Billy Jackson officiating. Mrs. Yates will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial to follow in the adjoining church cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends this evening from 5:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Yates died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Wedowee Hospital. Mrs. Yates is survived by her husband, John H. Yates of Woodland; one daughter, Sylvia (husband Gene) Grant of Wedowee; one sister, Elma Green of Wedowee; five grandchildren, David Grant, Melody Green, Todd Crawford, Lee Beachamp and Amy Crawford; five great-grandchildren, Logan Roberts, Haley and Kendall Grant, Cameron and Spencer Beachamp.

Pallbearers will be Jr. Whitmore, Chad Whitmore, Logan Roberts, Todd Crawford, David Grant and Pete Green. Mrs. Yates was born November 12, 1919, the daughter of Benjamin and Eliza Vowell Douglas. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and had been a seamstress for Breman Bowdon Investment. Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by one daughter, Faye Crawford; two brothers, B.H. & Emmett Douglas; four sisters, Lillan Tucker, Lydia Burgess, Velma Gosdin and Jewell Whitmore. Flowers will be accepted or donations to favorite charity.
