ESTEVES

ANNISTON — A Memorial Mass for Mr. Gilberto Esteves, 85, will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with the Reverend Robert J. Sullivan and The Reverend Bryan Lowe officiating. Mr. Esteves died April 30, 2008 at NE Alabama Regional Medical Center. Mr. Esteves was a member of the Catholic Church and a World War II veteran. He served in the U.S. Army Headquarters Battery, 162nd Artillery in the Battle of the Bulge, Eurpoean Theater. He also served in battles in Rhineland, Central Europe. He was decorated with the American Theater Service Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, five Overseas Service Bars, and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal with two bronze stars. Mr. Esteves is survived by his wife, Alma Esteves, of Anniston; daughters, Raquel Esteves, of Puerto Rico and Robie Grana and her husband, Dr. Wilfredo Grana, of Anniston; sons, Rene G. Esteves and his wife, Gorgie, of Puerto Rico, and Enrique R. del Valle and his wife, Lorena, of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Margot Esteves-Martinez, of Puerto Rico; brothers, Carlos Esteves and Osvaldo Esteves, both of Puerto Rico; fourteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

NEWELL

OXFORD — Funeral services for Mrs. Helen F. Newell, 86, will be Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Anniston Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Jeffrey Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Oxford Memorial Gardens in Oxford with Anniston Funeral Service in charge. The family will receive friends tonight, May 2, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Newell died on April 30, 2008 at Cleburne County Nursing Home.

Survivors include, one son, Billy (Sharon) Newell, of Jacksonville; five daughters, Sandra Key, Brenda Payton, Darlene (Billy) Brooks, Jimmie Bass and Edna Newell, all of Oxford; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Newell was a native of Oxford and was a member of the Hunter Street Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Mark Payton, Randy Payton, Dustin Newell, Mike Sears, Jeffrey Newell, Cody Payton, Corey Sears, and Skylar Payton. Honorary will be Dakota Payton and Bradley Newell. RITTENOUR

WELLINGTON — A memorial service for Mr. Robert Vernon Rittenour, 47, will be today, May 2, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Morris officiating. Mr. Rittenour passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008 at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa Rittenour of Wellington; one daughter, Tara Hill and husband, Billy, of Sylacauga; one son, Robert Rittenour III, of Wellington; sisters, Dana Woofter and husband, Don, of Ohio, Dee Holton and husband Mike, of Va., Dianne Lewis and husband Jason of Ohio; brothers, Charles Rittenour of Wellington and Bill Rittenour and wife Bonnie of Ohio. Mr. Rittenour was an Ohio native and resident of Wellington the past 27 years. He was employee with the H.V.F. and served in the U.S. Army for three years. He was of the Baptist faith. OXFORD — Funeral services for James A. Robertson, 74, of Oxford will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008, in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Buddy Nelson and the Rev. Herb Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Robertson died on Wednesday at Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Linda Annette Robertson; daughter, Kathie Wilson and her husband, Bill, of Anniston; son, Anthony Robertson, of Hokes Bluff, Keith Robertson, of Anniston; sister, Shirley Looser and her husband, James, of Huntsville; brother, Doug Robertson and his wife, Vera, of Weaver; five grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; special caregiver, Nancy Hastey; nieces, Tilli Bane and Tammy Ward.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Robertson, Richard Smith, Albert McDaniel, Tommy Haynes, Ronnie Adcock and Jeff Porter. Mr. Robertson was a resident of Oxford. He was a member of First Baptist Church Oxford and was retired from Anniston Army Depot. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. ASHLAND — Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Mae "Granny" Sargent Robinson, 86, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Millerville Baptist Church with the Revs. Kevin Payne and John Luckie officiating. Burial will follow in Millerville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 tonight and until service time on Saturday. Benefield Funeral Home, Ashland in charge of the arrangements.
