ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mr. Andrew Lewis Beavers "Bev" will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Glenaddie Community Church with Pastor Deborah Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Public visitation will commence today from noon until 8:30 p.m. The remains will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Ervin Funeral Chapel will be directing the service. Mr. Beavers passed away on April 23, 2008 at RMC. ANNISTON — Funeral service for Ralph L. Drew will be announced by Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Mr. Drew passed away April 27, 2008 at Autumn Cove Assisted Living.

FORNWALT

YPSILANTI, Mich. — Opal Louise "Ma-Ma" Fornwalt, 79, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008, at her daughter's residence. She was born May 2, 1928 in Eastaboga, the daughter of Ben and Beulah M. (Gady) Carroll.

Survivors include three sons, Robert (Anne Ajay Burton), Eddie (Mary Townsand) and Ricky Fornwalt; one daughter, Mary (Jerry) Wiley; six grandchildren, Robert (Shelly) Fornwalt Jr., Billy Wiley, Tonya (Erick) Wiley, Jason (Krishelle) Wiley, Corey (Wendy) Fornwalt and Ricky (Taylor) Fornwalt II; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Avery (Brenda) Carroll; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. today, April 30, 2008, at Stark Funeral Service Moore Memorial Chapel. GRIZZARD

OXFORD — Funeral services for Mrs. Frankie Reaves Grizzard, 85, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home & Crematory with Dr. C. O. Grinstead officiating. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oxford Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Grizzard died Monday at Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Grizzard was survived by three sons, Billy Grizzard and wife, Melanie of Oxford, Danny Grizzard and wife, Linda, of Panama City, Fla., and Randy Grizzard and wife, Kim, of Oxford; daughter, Debbie Brown and husband, Jay, of Pell City; sister, Frances Brown, of Oxford; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Grizzard was a native and life long resident of Calhoun County and was a life long member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Oxford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Grizzard, son, Eddie Grizzard; three brothers, Herman Reaves, Carl Reaves and Darrell Reaves; and three sisters, Vera Jennings, Susie Smith and Annis Comer.

Pallbearers will Barry Grizzard, Joey Grizzard, Tyler Grizzard, Colby Grizzard, David Redmond, Chris Gaskin and Jay Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be John Comer, Glenn Comer, Elbert Jennings, Doug Jennings, Robert Brown Jr., Brian Smith and The Ladies Welcome Sunday School Class at the Trinity Baptist Church. PIEDMONT — Funeral services for The Rev. James H. Martin, Th.D., 77, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Foster, The Rev. Hollis Martin and The Rev. James Martin, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Chosea Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 this evening at the funeral home. The Rev. Martin died Monday, April 28, 2008, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sara Martin; one daughter, Debra Foster (Ken), of Griffin, Ga; one son, James H. Martin Jr. (Dee), of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Jonathan Foster, Andrew Foster (Erika), Judson Martin, Ashley Martin and Roseanna Martin; his mother, Lillian Martin Williams, of Piedmont; two sisters, Janice Gambrell (Dallas) and Linda Ingram (Art), all of Piedmont; three brothers, Hollis Martin (Janice), Johnny Martin and Joey Martin (Sandy), all of Piedmont; sister-in-law, Charlene Creel (Charles), of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Foster, Johnny Martin, Joey Martin, Eddie Martin, Jerry Anderson and Art Ingram. The Rev. Martin was a Jacksonville native and had been a Piedmont resident for several years. He served as Bishop of the Congregational Holiness Church for eight years, pastored several churches in Alabama and Georgia and was currently serving as pastor at Community Congregational Holiness Church. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Antietam. He was preceded in death by his father, The Rev. Joe Martin.

NEWBERRY

ANNISTON — Funeral services for Bessie Brown Newberry, 93, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Jason Gurley, Calvin Prince and Otis Parker officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 7 at the funeral home. Mrs. Newberry died Tuesday at NE Alabama Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty B. MacKinlay; daughter-in-law, Anne E. Brown; one sister, Rebecca Ketcham, of Ozark; two granddaughters and three grandsons; 17 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Newberry and her son, James (Jim) Robert Brown Jr. Mrs. Newberry was a native of Dothan and had lived in Calhoun County over 20 years. JACKSONVILLE — Graveside services for Mrs. Sybil I. Rogers, 72, will be at 11 a.m. today from Hillcrest Cemetery with visitation from 10 until 10:30 at Folsom Funeral Home.

ROPER

ANNISTON — Graveside services for Amos Andrew Roper, 74, will be at 2 p.m. today, April 30, 2008 at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Elbert Lewis officiating. Mr. Roper passed away Monday at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Frances J. Roper; three daughters, Amanda Roper, of Anniston and Andria Goodwin and husband, Tony, of Anniston, and Linda Roper, of Oxford; two stepdaughters, Dawn McMichael and husband, Johnny, of Heflin and Martha White, of Guntersville; one son, David Roper, of Oxford; four stepsons, Steve Holland and wife, Violet, of Oxford, Jamie Holland and wife, Katrina, of Vincent, Jimmy Strickland and wife, Bobbi, of Bynum, and LaBoyd Strickland, of Florida; one sister, Ethellean Hyche, of Cordova; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Roper is preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Diggs and Mary Augustino.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Holland, Steve Holland, Jonathan McMichael, Adam McMichael, and Johnny McMichael. Mr. Roper was a resident of Anniston and Calhoun County. He retired from the Quintard Mall and was a veteran of the Korean War.

ANNISTON — Funeral service for Rhonda Denise Vincent, 50, will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Goodson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wanda Osborne officiating. Burial will be in the Edgemont Cemetery with Goodson Funeral Home directing. Public visitation will be Wednesday from 12-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
