ROBERTS

ANNISTON — A Memorial Service for Mr. Richard L. Roberts, 58, of Anniston, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2008 at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel with The Reverends Sonny Champion and Allen Webster officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Mr. Roberts died April 15, 2008 at his home after an extended illness.

Mr. Roberts retired after 38 years with BAE and was a member of the Jacksonville Church of Christ. He loved his family, Alabama football and is preceded in death by his father, Emory Lamar Roberts, and grandparents, Samuel Roberts and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Miller. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, and brother.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Suzy Roberts of Anniston; sons, Martin Roberts and Richard Roberts, both of Anniston; his mother, Mrs. Mary Jamison and her husband, Graham, of Anniston; sisters, Sherry Weldon and her husband, Alyn, and Cindy Vaughn and her husband, Johnny, all of Anniston; brother, Chris Roberts and his wife, Jill, of Anniston; his grandmother, Mrs. Lavada Roberts; the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Blake Roberts, Kellen Roberts, Ashten Roberts, Braden Roberts, and Carsen Roberts; sister-in-law, Cyndi Murphee; a niece, Jennifer Loos; and a nephew, Taylor Vaughn.

TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Mr. Cleophus Benjamin of Talladega will be announced by Sims Funeral Home. Mr. Benjamin died Wednesday, at his residence.

MEDDERS

LaGRANGE, Ga. — A Celebration of Life, for Mr. James Don Medders, 63, formally of Anniston, Ala., will be Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Gene Webb and Dr. Paul Baxter officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville City Cemetery. The family will be honored to receive all friends, aquaintances and former students at the funeral home beginning at 12 to 2 p.m. prior to the service Mr. Medders passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008 at LaGrange, Ga. following a lengthy illness.

Survivors include his wife, Genie Seals Medders of LaGrange, Ga.; two sons Morgan L. Medders of Atlanta, Ga. and Darin L. Medders of Jacksonville, Ala.; sister-in-law, Elaine (George) Cross, two brothers-in-law, Meryl B. Seals and K. Paul (Jimmy Nell) Seals; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and countless former students across Georgia and Alabama whom he loved so dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lee Medders and Mary Evelyn Brown Medders; father and mother-in-law, The Rev. P. V. and Orlean Seals, and sister-in-law Sue (Meryl) Seals. Mr. Medders was born November 1, 1944 in Boaz Alabama and presently resided in LaGrange, Ga.. He retired from a distinguished career of thirty years as a high school band director in Georgia and Alabama. He received his EdS Degree at Jacksonville State University. He was a proud member of the 1962-1965 Marching Southerners and of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Professional Music Fraternity. He was also a graduate of Auburn University and Troy State University. He was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square, LaGrange, Ga.

CENTRE — Services for Harold G. Ray, 76, will be 7 p.m. Friday at Perry Funeral Home Chapel, visitation from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Cherokee Memory Gardens.

SUDDUTH

ROANOKE — Funeral services for Mr. Tillman Hugh Sudduth of Roanoke, 91, will 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2008 from the First Methodist Church in Roanoke with the Rev. Steve Baccus and The Rev. Paul Messer officiating. Mr. Sudduth will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Cedarwood Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008. Mr. Sudduth died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Traylor Nursing Home.

Survivors include his wife, Lula Oleta Washington Sudduth of Roanoke; three daughters, Jo (husband Dwain) Lee of Cedartown, Jane (husband Robert E.) Gross of Wedowee, Jeanne (husband Charles) Clark of Wadley; one son, Walter (wife Elena) Sudduth of Roanoke; one sister, Lura Browning of Wedowee; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will grandsons and great-grandsons. Mr. Sudduth was born March 21, 1917, son of Robert Hugh and Claude Manley Sudduth. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and owner operator of Foodtown in Roanoke. Mr. Sudduth was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Joseph Lee; one granddaughter, Anna Lee Clark; five sisters; three brothers. Flowers will be accepted or donations made to the First Methodist Church of Roanoke.

WILLIAMS

FRUITHURST — Funeral services for June S. Williams, 61, will be 2 p.m. today at Mt. Paran Baptist Church with the Revs. Douglas Hatchett and Denise Hatchett officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Paran Cemetery in Muscadine. Mrs. Williams died Tuesday, April 17, 2008 at her residence.

Survivors include her husband, Billy J. Williams; 2 daughters, Caron (David) Davis and Donna (Roy) Willingham, of Fruithurst; a son, Michael W. Williams of Fruithurst; her mother, Laura G. Shierling of Fruithurst; brother, Randall (Jan) Shierling of Fruithurst; six grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and a life long resident of Cleburne County. She was a member of Living Word Family Church. Mrs. was preceded in death by her father, Homer Lee Sheirling.
