ADAMS

ANNISTON — A memorial service for Mr. Walter Lee Adams, 61, of Anniston, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Adams died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at NE Alabama Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Birmingham, where he graduated from Woodlawn High School. Mr. Adams was a graduate of The University of Alabama. He served in the US Marine Corp and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Adams was also president of Alabama Limousine. He is preceded in death by his father, W. Thompson Adams, mother, Marguerite Bivins Adams, and his sister, Ann Adams. Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Kathy Nesbitt Adams, of Anniston; daughters, Elizabeth Adams, of New Orleans, La; and Heather Ellis and her husband, Will, of Las Vegas, Nev; grandson, Andrew Ellis, brother, Tom Adams and his wife, Cara, of Hoover; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Ann Baldwin, 46, will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe McNeal officiating. Interment will follow at Ashland City Cemetery in Clay County. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Baldwin passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Baldwin is survived by her husband, Mark Baldwin, of Anniston; daughters, Brandy Moore, of Anniston; and Ashley Belden, of Texas; son, Jason Barrett, of Anniston; sisters, Tracy McNeal, of Anniston, Barbara Thomas, of Georgia; brother, Paul Hallman, of Anniston; six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Junior McNeal, Lance Moore, Donald Jinks, Justin Burgdoerfer, Matt Worthy and Gary McNeal. Mrs. Baldwin was a native and lifetime resident of Anniston. Chapel Hill Funeral Home will be servicing the Baldwin family (256) 820-5151.

WEAVER — Services for Mr. Ajay Marcus Blake II, 26, will be announced later by Gray Brown-Service Mortuary. Mr. Blake died Saturday, Emory Hospital.

BRADLEY

ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mrs. Cheron Sarver Bradley, 63, formerly of Anniston, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 1217 Lenlock Lane in Anniston with Bishop Veldon J. Bennett officiating. A viewing will be at on Monday, April 14, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. at the Gray Brown Mortuary. Mrs. Bradley passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in Indianapolis, Ind. Mrs. Bradley is survivors by her husband, of 46 years, James A. Bradley; two sons, James and Brian; daughter-in-law; Terri, and grandchildren; Laura and Keith Bradley, all of Indianapolis, Ind; sister, Marsha Feazell, and a brother, Rickey Sarver, both of Indianapolis, Ind, nieces, Elizabeth Feazell, Tanya Feazell, Stacy Sarver, and Sarah McLaughlin, nephews, Rickey Fish, Joey Sarver, Timothy Sarver, Zachary Sarver, Russell Smith, and Elliot Sarver, cousins, Ruth Lindsey and Joan Ginn of Anniston. Mrs. Bradley was preceded in death by her parents, Eldred Gerald Sarver Jr; and Virginia Elizabeth Collins Sarver Pearson, brothers, Gerald Sarver, Eldred Sarver III, Timothy Sr; and sister, Tammy Smith. Mrs. Bradley was born and grew up in Anniston and attended Walter Wellborn High School. Her husband, Jim, retired from the Defense Finance and Accounting Office located at the Anniston Army Depot in 1996.

Pallbearers will be James Bradley, Keith Bradley, Zachary Sarver, Elliot Sarver, Sidney Kooyman, Louis Quigley. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge of arrangements. (256) 236-3441.

BROOME

WEAVER — Funeral services for Horace Broome, 75, of Weaver, will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with the The Rev. Loyd Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Broome died Friday, April 11, 2008, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his daughter, Barbara White, and her husband, Sam B. White, of Anniston; his brother, Donald Broome, and his wife, Fay of Weaver; two sisters, Margaret Brackenrich and Clara Nelson of Weaver; four grandchildren, Earl (Buddy) Underwood, III, of San Diego, Calif; James Aaron Underwood and Jonathan Paul Sanders, of Anniston, and Matthew Sanders, of Georgia; one great-grandchild, Peyton Sanders. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patrice Broome, his mother, Catherine Broome, his father, Mike Broome and his brother, Curtis Broome.

Pallbearers will be Earl Underwood, III, James Aaron Underwood, Jonathan Paul Sanders, Matthew Sanders, John Nelson, Patrick Cooper, Jason Brown and Philip Morrison. Mr. Broome was a member of West Weaver Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and was the former owner of Citgo Service Station in Weaver, and a former employee of the City of Weaver. BROWN

COLUMBIA — Graveside service for Dovie Erwin Brown, 93, will be at Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 12-1:30 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, prior to the service. Mrs. Brown, wife of the late Luther Boyd Brown, died Thursday, April 10, 2008. Born in Calhoun County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Clement Erwin and Lucy Studdard Erwin. During World War II, she worked as an electrician manufacturing aircraft in California. She attended the Church of God for many years. Surviving are daughter, Linda Rogers, of Columbia; and nieces and nephews, including one special nephew, Luther Mark Erwin and his wife, Eunice Erwin; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She was the last survivor of fourteen siblings. Special appreciation is given to C. Elaine Lindler, her geriatric care manager, and the nurse and staff of Life Care Center of Columbia.

BOAZ — Funeral services for Mr. Grover John Fitts, 79, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Perry Funeral Home Chapel, the family will receive friends 12-2 p.m. prior to service.

GLASS

ANNISTON — Graveside services for Lois Ann James Haynes Glass, 66, will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary. Mrs. Glass passed away Thursday at her residence.

Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Delois Haynes, of Weaver and Linda Dean Cole, of Anniston; two sons, Edward Lee Haynes Jr., of Jacksonville and Troy McCury Haynes, of Talladega; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Cole, Christopher Haynes, Bethany Haynes, Aaron Haynes, Rahne Hicks, Haley Haynes, Alex Cole, and Alexia Cole; great-grandson, Luke Cole; one sister, Carol James; three brothers, Wallace James, Ray James, and Larry James; friend, Edward Lee Haynes Sr.; and several nieces and nephews.

ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Harold Greenwood, 64, will be 2 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2008, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Reaves and Mr. Wayne Dunaway officiating. A private entombment will follow. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Greenwood passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Greenwood is survived by his wife, Barbara Greenwood, of Anniston; sister, Sharon Crow and husband, Farris of Anniston; brothers, the Rev. Marlon Greenwood and wife, Doris, James Arthur Greenwood and wife, Alice of Weaver; special nieces and nephews, Scott and Trina Pettus, of Anniston; Keith and Cheryl Henegar, of Anniston; Kelley and Chris Harris, of Birmingham. Mr. Greenwood was a native and lifelong resident of Anniston. He was employed at Lee Brass. He was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. PRATER

ANNISTON — Funeral services for Leonard Warren Keith Prater, 57, will be at 2:30 p.m, today, at Miller Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jackie Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Dogwood Trails Cemetery in Oxford. Mr. Prater died Friday, April 11, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Prater is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Mary Cathlene Hurst Prater, of Anniston; two loving daughters, Kacie Leigh Prater Smith and her husband, Jason, Caitlin Leann Prater all of Anniston; two granddaughters, Halie Kate Smith, of Anniston; Lauren Taylor Smith, of Gadsden; one brother, Roger (Shirley) Prater, nieces, Vaniti and Kendra Prater, Kayla and Laura Hurst, Melissa Nance, Tammy Nolen and Misty Pointer, and Christina Talley, nephews, Scott Prater, Todd Prater, Jay Prater, Matthew and Eric Hurst, several great nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-laws; Cindy Prater and Joyce Prater, uncle, Harold Prater, aunt, Fannie Hicks. Mr. Prater was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Prater and Lillian Eden, two brothers, Jerry Prater and Kenneth Prater.

Pallbearers will be Scott Prater, Todd Prater, Jay Prater, Harce Junior Hurst, Tim Hurst, Derrick White and Jason Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Burgess, Billy Eugene "Pearl" McCormick, Clarence White, Junior Hammonds, Tommy Coleman, Junior Ward, Billy Busby, M.T. Mitchell, John Tarver, Buddy Bonner, Roger McManus, Wayne "Tiny" Marler, Wayne Vaughn and other faithful customers and friends. Mr. Prater was born in Anniston, a resident of the Abel community in his earlier years. Mr. Prater was an employee of Lee Brass for 10 years, then purchased Prater's U-Name It Store, on Highway 78, in 1981, where he was owner and operator. He was a member of Abel Baptist Church. He was an avid Auburn fan and Nascar fan, he was a friend to everyone and was always helping and giving to the community, friends, family and anyone in need.
