Helen Vivian Barnes, Talladega TALLADEGA — Services for Mrs. Helen Vivian Barnes, 84, will be 1 p.m., March 29, 2008, at Usrey Chapel. Visitation from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. GADSDEN — Funeral services for Mrs. Reba Ware Chesser, 75, will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, at Collier-Butler Chapel with burial at Crestwood Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Payne and the Rev. Lem Lockmiller officiating. Collier-Butler funeral and Cremation Services directing. Mrs. Chesser was a native of Randolph County and a resident of Etowah County for approximately 60 years. She was a member of Forrest Ave. Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Chesser retired from Holy Name of Jesus Hospital with approximately 30 years of service as a Pediatric Registered Nurse. Mrs. Chesser is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard Franklin Chesser, Jr; three children, Carren C. Litteral, Gadsden, Richard Avery Chesser, Augusta, Ga; Harry and Vicky Chesser, Gadsden; four grandchildren, Christy Litteral, Trint M. Litteral, Richard Avery Chesser, Jr., and Stephanie Chesser; two sisters, Edyth and Will Hardman, LaGrange, Ga; Bovene Mallory, Prattville, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Trint Litteral, Byron Townsel, Richard A. Chesser, Chris Lombardo, John Christian, and Richard A. Chesser, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be all personal friends along with Dr. Charles Griffith, Dr. Thomas Corley, Dr. Lucian Newman, Jr., and Dr. Bryan McGwier. DEL CITY, Okla. — Graveside services for Ms. Carolyn Mitchell Clonts, 76, will be 1 p.m. Friday, at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Ms. Clonts died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Midwest Regional Medical Center in Oklahoma. Ms. Clonts is survived by her son, David (Darlene) Clonts of Del City, OK; three daughters, Dianna (David) Horner of Manhattan, KS, Debra (Bobbie) Mickey of Cookeville, Tenn., and Denise (Gerald) Walling of Anniston; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren with another great grand-child due in May 2008. Ms. Clonts was a native of Colorado but had lived in Anniston for 45 years until 2006 when, due to her health, she moved to Del City, OK. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Ada Mitchell, of Delta County, CO; her husband, Jack H. Clonts, of Anniston; and her son, Donald G. Clonts, of Anniston. ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Lee Dobbs Fordham, 86, will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2008, at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with the Rev. Walter Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 at the funeral home. Mrs. Fordham passed away Monday at NHC. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Rollins, of Heflin; one son, William Edward Dobbs and wife, Becky, of Anniston; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, George Brown; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fordham is preceded in death by her first husband, William H. Dobbs; her second husband, Bucklew Fordham; her parents, Edward A. and Viola Reid; one sister, and four brothers. ROANOKE — Funeral services for Herman Ralph Murray, 81, will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2008, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Martin Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery in Anniston. Visitation will be 6-8 this evening at Dryden Funeral Home. Mr. Murray passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008, in Roanoke. Mr. Murray was a native of Calhoun County and had been a resident of Randolph County since 1964. He was a veteran of U.S. Army having served in World War II. He was a partner in Boiler Maker Shop in Anniston for many years. Preceded in death by his parents, Morris Alfred and Gracie Hellen Bryant Murray; a sister, Gladys Garmany; two brothers, Wallace and Jerome Murray; and two grandchildren, Wayne and Jerry Nelson. Pallbearers will be Carl Murray, Clark Murray, Jody Nelson, Nathan Zaner, Henry Mosley and Kevin Samples. Survivors include wife, Frances Mayne Murray, Heflin; six daughters, Debbie Denney, Lineville, June Abernathy, Anniston, Lana McNeeley, South Carolina, Pat Mosley, Oxford; Jackie Roberts, MS; two sons, Raymond Murray, South Carolina and Ralph Murray, Hamilton; brother, Fred Murray; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was a 1983 graduate of Walter Wellborn High School. A loving and wonderful mother, she was a local, hometown star. She loved Ms. Owens is survived by her daughter, Julia Anne Harkins of Anniston; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tina and Dennis Vinson of London, Ark; and Rina and Stanton Dixon of Ashdown, Ark; her companion, Scott Harkins; her best friends, Kristy and Scott Farmer of Anniston; three nieces; and one nephew. Pallbearers will be Scott Farmer, Jeff Howard, Mike Denham, Van Heibel, Jimmy Higgins, and Jordan Vinson. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and family, Dennis Vinson, and all local musicians. HEFLIN — Memorial services for Mr. Jack Wilkes, 80, will be at on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Heflin First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carl M. Cook and the Rev. Sam Hayes officiating. Mr. Wilkes died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at NE Alabama Regional Medical Center. Mr. Wilkes a native of Meigs, Ga., Mr. Wilkes had resided for many years in Plantation, Fla., before moving to Heflin. He was a member of the Heflin First United Methodist Church and was a Mason. He was also retired from CUNA Mutual Insurance Group. Mr. Wilkes is survived by his wife, Lexie Cook Wilkes, of Heflin; a daughter, Molly Karen Wood and her husband, James Michael Wood, of Charlotte, NC; a son, Michael Kelly Wilkes and his wife, Johanna Aphrey Dorough Wilkes, of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Paul Michael Wood, Andria Michelle Wilkes, and Jackson Scott Wilkes; and three nieces.
