James Albert Adams, Talladega TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Mr. James Albert Adams, 85, of Talladega, Ala. will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2008, at Gray Brown Service Funeral Home with The Rev. Tony Thrower officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery with the Hartwell Lodge 101 in charge of services. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Mr. Adams passed away Tuesday at Talladega Health Care. Survivors include: spouse, Barbara Ann Adams of Talladega; daughters, Linda Gunnoe and husband, Bill, of Weaver, Gloria Martin and husband, Don, of Anniston, Brenda Dickover and husband, Randy, of Oxford and Dianne Dean, of Oxford; sons, David Adams, of Oxford, Keith Adams and wife, Kathy, of Oxford and Stewart Adams, of Talladega; 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; sisters, Frances Comer and husband, Woody, of Anniston and Sarah Jane Thrower, of Oxford; brothers, Glenn Adams, of Virginia and Harold Adams, of Oxford. Preceded in death by parents, Byrd and Ruth Adams; first wife, Cora Rose Etta Adams; daughter, Shirley Rose; brother, Fred Adams; sister, Edna Kelley. Mr. Adams was a Mason, veteran of WWII, Master Electrician and a Bee Keeper. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge of arrangements. RANBURNE — Mrs. Maria Alcover, of Forest Ridge Road in Ranburne, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2008. She was 98. Mrs. Alcover was born on January 26, 1910 in Guantanamo, Cuba to the late Eduardo and Maria Miro Reineke. She was of the Catholic faith and was a retired seamstress from Sports Togs in Miami Beach, Florida. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ed "Duke" and Susan Alcover of Manchester, Tenn.; her daughter and son-in-law, Gladys and Raymond Robinson of Ranburne, Ala.; her brother, Freddie Fleitas of Miami, FL; her sister, Virginia Roakes of Miami, FL; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. A memorial mass for Mrs. Maria Alcover will be at on Friday, February 15, 2008, at 2 p.m. (CST) at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church (1301 Golden Springs Road, Oxford, Alabama). ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — William Harrison Barber, age 82, of Englewood, Colorado passed away Sunday, February 10, 2008, at Millbrook Home. Funeral services for Mr. Barber will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery with Dryden Funeral Home in charge. The family will receive friends from 5-7 this evening at the funeral home. Mr. Barber was a native of Red Bay, Alabama and a resident of Mobile, Alabama for most of his life. He had lived in Englewood, Colorado for the past five years. He was a graduate of Auburn University and was a division Engineer for CSX Railroad. Mr. Barber was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. ANNISTON — Private graveside services for Sharon Ruth Riffe, 47, of Anniston will be today at 3 p.m. at Eulaton First Baptist Church with The Rev. Tom Bonds officiating. Ms. Riffe died Monday in Anniston. Survivors include her daughter, Lauren Alexandra Riffe-Cail; her parents, Carl and Mary Louise Riffe; her sister, Shari Riffe-Greene and her husband, Clay; her nephew, Jared Greene; two aunts, Sarah Shivers and her husband, Hugh and Ann Hinds; her uncle, Lamar Hinds and his wife, Sue and several cousins and special friends. Mr. Stamps died Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at NHC Healthcare in Anniston. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Millie Inell Stamps of Jacksonville; a step daughter, Barbara Griffin and her husband, David of Jacksonville; a son, James R. Stamps and his wife, Donna of Villa Rica, Ga.; a stepson, Allen McLendon and his wife, Kathy of Gardendale; three sisters, Jewell Eubanks and her husband, Tom of Fayetteville, Ga., Christine Boteler of Atlanta, Ga. and Louise Hendrix of Carrollton, Ga.; several grandchildren, special great grandchildren, Alaina and Cooper Milam and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Stamps was born on October 25, 1921 in Carroll County, Ga.. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After 10 years employment with LaTourneau in Texas, he returned to Georgia, where he later retired from Southwire Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville and was active in Keenagers. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lillie Stamps and several brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be David Griffin, Jonathan Milam, Bennie Perdue, Bob Crossley, James Richardson, John Griffin, Tommy Eubanks, and Allen McLendon. Dr. Dan Spencer will officiate. Mr. Summers died Tuesday, February 12, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville following a long standing illness. Born October 13, 1935, he was the son of the late Elizabeth and James Summers. Survivors include his wife, Betty Summers; his daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and Tommy Williams; his son, Barney Ross Summers Jr.; grandchildren, Lindsey Reichert, Tyler Ledbetter, Morgan Summers and step grandchildren, Lyle, Ashlyn and Neel Williams. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Larry and Alton Summers and sister, Myrele Tuck. Mr. Summers was a kind, quiet and gentle man, who was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His life was an example of service and devotion to those he loved. His sweet and gentle spirit, wonderful sense of humor and his positive attitude about life's circumstances will be his legacy.
