AARP safe driving class will be 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. April 6 at the Oxford Public Library. Anyone who has a valid driver’s license may take the class. A Calhoun County rabies clinic will be held April 6 at the following times and locations:

• 7:30-9 a.m., Winn Dixie, Coldwater.

• 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Weaver City Park.

• 8-9 a.m., Jacksonville High School.

• 9:30-10:30 a.m., Ohatchee OldTown Square.

• 11 a.m.-noon, Alexandria High School.

The Youth Group of The Salvation Army of Anniston is running a local/national discount card fundraiser through May 1. The discount card offers specials at many local businesses as well as national chains. The proceeds will go towards the youth ministries and outreach programs for the Salvation Army of Anniston. The West Anniston Foundation is accepting scholarship applications for the 2013-2014 academic year for graduating seniors or students currently enrolled in a two- or four-year college. “Take Pride in Jacksonville” will be held at 8:30 a.m. April 13 at Jacksonville City Hall. The event is an opportunity for residents to spruce up their neighborhoods and their community. The Jacksonville-Piedmont landfill will be free from 7-11:30 a.m. for Jacksonville residents. Cub Scout Pack 19 will be at City Hall collecting aluminum cans.
