Two people were hospitalized after being shot in Anniston on Thursday, according to police.

Anniston police officers responded to a 911 call about gunfire at the 1000 block of West 15th Street, Anniston police Investigator Wes Johnson wrote in a news release. The release did not say what time police received the call.

A male victim, who was not named, was found with a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to “a local hospital,” Johnson wrote.

Another female victim, who was also not named, was found at a hospital with a gunshot wound as well, the investigator wrote.

“The two gunshot victims were determined to be related to the same conflict,” Johnson wrote. “The investigation is still pending.”

Efforts to reach investigators Thursday were unsuccessful.
