HEFLIN – A Cleburne County judge issued a gag order Thursday in the case of a couple whose infant son was taken into custody by the Cleburne County Department of Human Resources one day after he was born.
Christian Holm, 35, and Danielle Holm, 32, attended a hearing Thursday morning in hopes of regaining custody of their son.
The couple, who decided to give up their material belongings and “live biblically” while ministering to others, were camping at Cheaha State Park after walking up from Montgomery when she went into labor and was taken to the hospital in Anniston. She gave birth to a healthy 7-pound, 5-ounce boy Monday at 6:53 a.m.
Their joy was short lived, however. The child was taken into custody by Cleburne County DHR about 6 p.m. on Tuesday and the couple was instructed to come to the hearing two days later.
A few members of the park staff also came to the hearing and at least one was called in to testify.
More than three hours after being ushered in the family courtroom the couple emerged looking grim.
They were unable to comment because of a gag order issued by District Judge Melody Walker, according to an attorney who broke in when Christian Holm stopped to talk.
