Etowah County deputies arrested a Piedmont woman Sunday on charges that she shot a woman multiple times Saturday.

Susie Ann Little, 53, was arrested Sunday morning and charged with first-degree assault. She was released from jail the next day, according to the Sheriff’s Office website.

Attempts to reach Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin for comment Wednesday were unsuccessful,  but according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, Little called 911 at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, telling the operator that she had shot a woman several times.

Both women were inside Little’s home on Gnatville Road, which has a Piedmont address but is inside Etowah County, when the women began fighting, according to the release.

Police say Little shot the victim six times —   three times in the arm and three times in the chest —  during the struggle. Little told deputies that she asked the victim to leave her home, and when she refused, they began to fight, the release states.

The victim’s gunshot wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, according to the release.

It was not clear Wednesday when Little is scheduled to appear in court.
