Three children were taken to a hospital after a two-car crash on Quintard Avenue late Wednesday afternoon, Anniston police said.

A gray Nissan Versa heading southbound on Quintard Avenue collided with a red Chrysler heading westbound on 11th Street around 4:45 p.m., causing the Versa to flip and totaling both cars, said Anniston police Sgt. Michael Webb. Three children in the Versa were taken to the hospital, but Webb said he did not know their conditions or age. The two drivers involved in the wreck were not taken to the hospital from the scene, Webb said.

Traffic heading southbound on Quintard Avenue was blocked off for more than an hour Wednesday as police and Anniston firefighters worked to clear the scene.

Webb said he did not know a cause of the crash, and police were investigating the incident. He said the department would release a statement Thursday morning.
