A judge on Monday rescheduled a preliminary hearing for an Anniston man charged with attempted murder to a grand jury.

Calhoun County Circuit Judge Chris McIntyre moved that hearing, which was to take place Monday, to Sept. 3.

Claud Frazier, 65, was arrested July 27, charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting Jason Johnston that day. Frazier was released from the Calhoun County Jail on July 28 on a $ 30,000 bond.

Frazier also accidentally shot his son, Jason Frazier, 38, of Anniston, during the incident, police have said.

At about 9 a. m. on July 27, Anniston police arrived at a home on the 900 block of West 49th Street to find two men with gunshot wounds, according to an Anniston police press release.

The homeowner, Jason Johnston, 37, of Anniston was flown to UAB Hospital for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds. He was not a patient at the hospital the day after the shooting, according to a person who answered the phone at the hospital.

Jason Frazier was treated at Regional Medical Center for “non-lifethreatening wounds,” the press release states. Frazier was later arrested and charged with second- degree assault.

Investigators believe the incident began with a dispute between Johnston and the younger Frazier, the press release states.
