Authorities on Thursday charged a man with first-degree theft of property in connection with the removal of property from a residence in Alexandria.

On April 17, deputies filed a report involving the theft of a cargo trailer, stolen from a residence on Lowrimoore Road in Alexandria. According to Sheriff Larry Amerson, the property was stolen during the night hours of April 16.

Brian Scott Watson, 25, is suspected of stealing around $2,000 worth of property, including a cargo trailer, motorcycle and car parts, an electric winch and a stereo, according to authorities.

Amerson said that another man, Derek Campbell, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property in the first degree and is suspected of being involved, along with Watson, in the theft of similar items at other properties in the area.

“These people were involved with the theft of several different utility-type trailers, along with other property which we are trying to identify now,” Amerson said.

Watson was being held at the Calhoun County Jail on Monday with bond set at $5,000. He is to appear in court May 15.
