Small Talk: Junior League prepares for Winter Treasures
|
The ladies of the Junior League of Anniston-Calhoun (under the leadership of president Erin Woodruff) have been hard at work, planning this area’s premier shopping event.
Winter Treasures, chaired by Kelly Patterson, promises to have something for everyone. There will be over 65 vendors — some new, and others returning for a second year. Merchants from across the Southeast will gather at the Anniston City Meeting Center for two days (Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 25) to offer a variety of items for purchase.
Winter Treasures offers the complete package, where you can shop for unique jewelry, handbags and clothing, as well as beautiful pottery; check out the latest in kitchen accessories and delicious gourmet foods (many of which can be sampled all day long); and pamper yourself with fabulous spa products and candles from specialty crafters across the Southeast.
If you’re still hungry after all that sampling, you can purchase a delicious lunch provided by Just Desserts.
Like having the inside scoop? Be the first to shop, and enjoy a delicious brunch provided by The Victoria on Friday, 9-11 a.m.
Winter Treasures will also feature several special events. On Friday, from 10 to noon, Carol Aebersold, author of The Elf on The Shelf, will be signing books in the lobby of the Anniston City Meeting Center. The Elf on the Shelf is a magical Christmas story created by Aebersold and her daughter, Chanda Bell. It tells the story of an elf that watches children’s behavior between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, and then reports to Santa. Start a new tradition with your family, and purchase one of these books. Each book comes with an 8-inch elf, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Junior League of Anniston-Calhoun and its community projects.
Saturday’s special events include cooking demonstrations with The Pampered Chef by Phyllis Whaley; “In my Kitchen” with Evelyn’s Gourmet; and “Kids In the Kitchen.”
Committee members who have been working for months on the event include Hillary Folsom, decorations; Katie Edwards, special events; Lynn Mitchell — ticket sales; Julie Hansek, dining and refreshments; Emily White, staff placement; plus Jennifer Allen, Missy Wagoner, Dawn Wilczek, Megan Whaley, Amanda Houston, Samantha Heard, Janna Griggs, Autumn Cole and Casie Spencer.
General Admission tickets are $5 from a member, or $7 at the door; brunch tickets are $10. For more info, go to www.jlanniston.org.
