Small Talk: Beer, brats and the Berman Museum
|
If it's autumn, it's time for the suds! On Saturday, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Berman Alliance presents the much anticipated 4th Annual Autumn Suds Fest: Beer and Brats. This well — received fall tradition includes beer sampling, food, fun and music.
This year, Berman Museum presents Matthew Roberts on acoustic guitar. While guests enjoy listening to his mellow music, they can sample beers provided by Alabama Crown, Bama Budweiser, and Supreme Beverage.
Among the many volunteers working together to make sure the event is "hopping" are those in charge of hosting and food: Louise Lokey, Lynne Isom, Susan and Craig Waldron, Susan Gibbins, Karen Henricks and Recollected Books, Joellyn Sherrill and Sarah Ballard.
A talented trio of Caffey sisters — Peg Tyler, Pat Kemp and Carolyn Heberer — will provide décor for the venue, and Robert Smith (of Robert's Rentals) will make sure to have plenty of seating for the crowd, and plenty of festive touches to add to the fun, relaxed atmosphere.
Assisting these generous volunteers will be Museum Business Development Coordinator David Ford, Programs Manager Gina Morey, Development Director Lindie Brown and Director Cheryl Bragg.
Guests will also enjoy informal "beer talk" with The Star's own Ben Cunningham, who selected the array of beers and who is eager to share his knowledge and observations of the ales, the lagers, and everything in between. Along with the brewskis, Suds Fest attendees can help themselves to a selection of brats, cheeses, desserts and fruits.
During the event, guided tours of the exhibit hall will be available.
The folks at the Museum have taken the opportunity to shake up this 4th annual Suds Fest with fun activities and more social opportunities; call David Ford quickly at 237—6261 for any remaining reservations.
Tickets are $25/person or $45/couple. Or, ask for the group rate: 6 guests for the price of 5 — that's 6 for $125! Must be at least 21 to attend.
Proceeds from this year's Suds Fest will benefit the Berman Museum Collection and help fund 2009's Mary Lee Bendolph, Gee's Bend Quilts and Beyond exhibit.
The Autumn Suds Fest is made possible through the generosity of Berman Alliance and Robert's Rentals.
