Lineville native receives regional and state awards

Bonnie Garrett recently was awarded the titles of Tennessee Valley Air Force Association Teacher of the Year and Alabama Air Force Association Teacher of the Year. The Air Force Association (AFA) is a non-profit, independent, professional military and aerospace education association promoting public understanding of aerospace power and the pivotal role it plays in the security of the nation. In addition to these two titles, she also received two certificates of excellence, a personalized jacket, an AFA tote bag, a check in the amount of $500, a check in the amount of $250, and a complimentary Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education membership sponsored by the Civil Air Patrol.

Garrett currently works at Westlawn Middle School in Huntsville as a certified Project Lead The Way (PLTW) educator. She is a 1996 graduate of Lineville High School, a three-time graduate of Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, and the daughter of John and Linda Garrett of Lineville.
