Mike Pruitt’s 11th annual Oldies Party will begin with doors opening at 5 p.m. today at Oxford Civic Center, 401 McCullars Lane, Oxford. Special guests taking the stage at 6 p.m. include Me and The Girls, Debbie Calhoun, Steve Campbell, Alice Martin and more. There will be food, contests and more. The cost will be $5 and will benefit East Alabama United Cerebral Palsy.

AlaBenton Genealogical Society’s workshop “Pioneer Ancestors” will begin with sign-in at 10 a.m. with the program beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Ayers room at the Public Library of Anniston-Calhoun County, 10th Street and Wilmer Avenue. The 4th annual Plumbers and Pipefitters UA Local 498 charity event, an ice cream contest, will be 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Noccalula Falls campground behind the wedding chapel in Gadsden. Live music, guest speakers, food, door prizes and more will be featured. The event is free and open to the public. All proceeds will go to the “Angels of America’s Fallen” charity. The Response to Elder Abuse Community Kick-off event will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Calhoun County DHR building. National trainers from the National Clearinghouse in Later Life (NCALL) will lead the presentation. Space is limited to 100, so early registration is required. The Boys and Girls Club of East Central Alabama’s annual “Stake and Steak Dinner” will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Anniston City Meeting Center. Paralympian Blake Leeper is the featured speaker. The dinner is to help raise critical funding needed to support the eight clubs in East Central Alabama that are serving more than 690 registered members each year. A free community event, sponsored by New Mount Zion Church of Anniston, will be from 1-5 p.m. Aug. 23 at Zinn Park, 14th Street and Gurnee Avenue.
