The YMCA of Calhoun County regular joining fees have been reduced to $4 for the month of July. The regular monthly rates still apply. A Christ Against Cancer 5K/Charity Ride will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. and race at 8 a.m. July 19 at Tommy Moore Memorial Center, 216 Snow St., Oxford. The event is sponsored by Empowering Communities, Families and Schools. The proceeds will go toward patient gift bags, snack food in waiting areas for local cancer facilities and treatment offices and more. Visit www.empowercfs.com for more information.

The Anniston Runners Club wants your shoes. Any type of shoe and in any condition. The club is holding the shoe drive as a fundraiser to support their many outreach programs in the community. Funds2Orgs will turn the shoes into cash, paying the club 40 cents per pound. The club will accept the shoes now through the Woodstock 5K planned for Aug. 2.
