UDC presents scholarship to recent high school grad gradgrad

Ryan Christopher Jones will attend Auburn

Jacksonville Chapter, Gen. John H. Forney, United Daughters of the Confederacy, recently presented Ryan Christopher Jones of Alexander City a UDC scholarship to Auburn University. 

Jones graduated from Benjamin Russell High School on in May. He is in the top 10 of a class of 300-400 graduates. He has attended Central Alabama Community College for the past two years as well as Benjamin Russell High School.

Jones has also been holding down jobs, playing football, and participating in Boy Scouts. He is in the Order of Arrow which is a level above Eagle Scout. His genealogy includes a great-great-great-grandfather, Richard Thomas Parker, who was a corporal in Co. D 34th Alabama Infantry of the Confederate Army.

His mother, Stacey Crisler Jones, and his grandmother, Emily Walker Crisler, are members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and his great-great-grandmother, Mary Louise Parker Walker, was a charter member of the Alexander City Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
