Piano students of Dr. Susie Francis Dempsey presented their spring piano recital May 17 at the First Presbyterian Church. They each performed several piano selections prior to the awarding of some special honors.

Those attending the Alabama Music Teachers Association auditions this spring included, Daniel Dempsey, son of Drs. David and Heidi Dempsey, Hannah Grace Weathers, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Carlton Weathers, and Bailey Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Davis. Bailey was recognized with an outstanding rating.

These three students were adjudicated in their performances of three memorized piano pieces as well as their demonstration of music theory knowledge at the keyboard.

Justin Westley was recognized as the graduating senior.

All of Dr. Dempsey’s students participated in a Studio Achievement Audition in April and received appropriate recognition for their work. Additional performances included two future solo recitals. Daniel Dempsey, a Jacksonville High School senior, performed a solo recital on May 23 at the First United Methodist Church, where he presented both piano and clarinet music.

Justin Westley performed a solo recital of vocal and piano music May 19 at the First Presbyterian Church.
