I love to take pictures of people, to capture them in their environment or to portray them in such a way as to capture their personality or, with luck, an unseen piece of their soul. As a photojournalist, I get to meet a lot of interesting people. And Dave Friedman is a character. An old carnival boss, movie producer and director, he shared stories of misadventures and improbable movies with Star writer Bret Buckner and myself one afternoon at his home in Anniston. I snapped this picture of Dave, surrounded by his memorabilia, in mid-story. One frame is all I got before he strolled over to another part of the room.
