Reader's Choice Award Winner: "Willie and Joe" 87-year-old Willie B. Heard takes Joe, his plow mule, to be rigged. Here's what Steve had to say about his winning photo: "The picture of Willie Heard leading the mule was a decent enough picture but the shadow following them accentuated the mule's ears. If you look at just the straight picture of the man and the mule, the ears don't show up that well. But in the shadows you can see them. They're very long and extended and to me, without the shadow, the picture is just a ho-hum picture. Look beyond the ordinary. The fact that he's plowing with a mule is not ordinary. But what he does with his hands, what he sees, what his life is like most people now can't understand or believe it even existed back then. They've only read about it in books, but they've never seen it in person. This was an up-close-and-personal view of things that has passed us by years ago. "
