"My favorite image of the second quarter is this close play at home plate between Alexandria and Ashville. I suppose the reason I like it the best of these is that it is an exciting picture. Close plays at home plate are hard to get and I think the umpire and his intense gaze at the play also adds an element to the picture that just makes it my favorite. To stop action in sports you need a high shutter speed. Really, one of the most important things for any kind of sport is to freeze the motion."
