'Enchanted April' perfect spring play

When two London housewives get frustrated with their marriages and the damp and dreary weather, they decide to take a holiday to warm and sunny Italy. To help share the cost of the villa, they recruit two very different women. When their plethora of personalities combine, these four women are in for a spring vacation they will not forget. Beginning tonight, Alpha Psi Omega, Jacksonville State University's drama honorary fraternity, will be performing this springtime story, "Enchanted April." "Enchanted April" is a romantic comedy along the same lines as Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives or Gilmore Girls, said Beth Stanford, student director. "It's one of those plays that can touch everybody," she said. It's the dynamics of the womens' personalities that make this play work. Lottie, played by Heather Olsen, is the one who decides to take a holiday because she feels her husband treats her like a child. "She's a dreamer, tries to make the best of everything." Stanford said. Lottie is balanced by Rose, played by Holly Rice. Rose is very reserved and quiet, almost a quiet dignity, Stanford said. Lady Caroline, played by Stevie Durrough, is a young socialite. She's always drinking and has a dry, sarcastic sense of humor. Mrs. Graves, played by Niki Harris, is old fashioned and disapproves of modern language. While it would seem that these women are so different they could never get along, they realize they aren't so different where it really counts. They learn to understand and appreciate each other and work through their personal differences. But these women aren't just learning about each other, they are learning about themselves.
