JSU to host art gala and auction

The Visual Arts Society of Jacksonville State University will be hosting its 16th Spring Gala Auction and Gourmet Buffet Dinner this Saturday at the Leone Cole Auditorium on the JSU campus. Jim Campbell, former member of the House of Representatives and attorney in Anniston will be the auctioneer for the event. At 6:30 p.m. the silent auction will begin, along with dinner and wine, and the live auction will start at 8:00 p.m. Items to be auctioned include fine art and other unusual fine items that have been donated by local as well as regional artists, JSU faculty members, as well as art patrons and sponsors. The auction will feature items such as a Nubian Egyptian necklace, a photograph by local photographer David Cummings, handmade jewelry, a wheel-thrown hand-carved floral bowl, a gourmet dinner for eight, a luxurious weekend in Perdido Key, and gift certificates to places such as Prestige Medical Spa and Damn Yankees Steak/Fish & Oyster Bar. There will be many more items up for auction on Saturday night, with more items arriving daily. Tickets are available for $25 per person for members of the Visual Arts Society and $30 per person for non-members.
