The 2008 Alexandria all-stars (Dixie Boys) hosted a tournament in memory of Mike Cooper and Thomas D. Bowen on June 21.

Team members include Justice Owens, Zach Howard, Colton Bundrum, Gabe Cox and Ty Whaley, Deante Owens, Justin Bowen, Matt Nichols, Logan Doss, Tyler Burr, Collin Snider and Kyle Turner; coaches, Toby Whaley, Clay Cox and Tom Doss. Justin Bowen and Collin Snider are grandsons of Thomas Bowen and Mike Cooper.

The Weaver 12 and under girls softball team "Dynamite Girls," above, finished its season 19-0 with last year's season 18-2. The team pitcher, Kaitlyn Rhodes, is only 12 years old and has thrown four or five perfect games. She threw more than 85 strikeouts this year and more than 70 last year. She will be playing for Weaver High School next year.

Team members include Shannon Brooks, Tiffany Springer, Kaitlyn rhodes, Kira Kihlstadius, Hannah Pugh, Alyssa Perkey, Hailey Wine, Brooke Uesry, Anna Morris, Ashleigh McNutt, Emily King, Kelsey Wilson and Morgan Brown. Coaches include Sonny Welch, Shawn Kihlstadius, Jim Morris and Donald Rhodes.
