Quilting contest winners announced

The Gadsden Museum of Art recently was host to the second annual statewide quilt show "Stitching Across Alabama."

Winners at the quilt show included:

• Best of Show, Post Cards from Alabama, Mary Lou Mcnair of Daphne.

• Calvin & Waukesha Sammons Honorary Award, Bug Off, Cyndi Wheeler of Hoover.

• Judges Choice Award, 840 Stars, Cheryl Clabough of Bessemer.

• Best Hand Quilted Pieced Award, Circular Saw, Joe Whitten of Odenville.

• Best Hand Quilted Appliqué Award, My Jacobean Fantasy, Gary Batson of Piedmont.

• Best Combined Technique, Starbusts, Gary Batson of Piedmont.

• Best Machine Quilted Award, A Tale of Stars and Snails, Ruth Ann Abbs of Hoover

• Best Wall Quilt Award, Sashiko Garden, Joann Williams, of Tuscaloosa.

• Best Art Quilt Award, Dewey Hibiscus — It's Blooming Done, Birmingham Art Quilters of Hoover.

• Honorable Mention, Colonial Ladies, Alpha D. Buford of Anniston.

• Viewer's Choice Award, Starbursts, Gary Batson of Piedmont.
