Julie Hope, (front row, second from right) director of education/outreach and an administrator at the Health Services Center, recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to join HIV/AIDS advocates from around the United States to meet with elected officials on Capitol Hill. The event was part of AIDSWATCH, a national effort to keep America's political leaders informed concerning issues related to HIV/AIDS in the United States.

The group was able to meet with Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions and Reps. Mike Rogers, Artur Davis, Robert Aderholt and others.

The Health Services Center, a not-for-profit organization in Hobson City, serves 14 counties of northeast Alabama with HIV medical care, substance abuse treatment and prevention programs, community prevention education and free HIV testing and counseling.
