The U.S. Forest Service's Shoal Creek Ranger District hosted its annual Youth Catfish Derby on Saturday, June 14 at Coleman Lake. More than 130 children, ages birth-16, joined us for a beautiful morning in the outdoors, followed by a free lunch and awards presentation.

We would like to thank our partners: JSU Field School, Alabama Department of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries and Cane Creek Fire Department. A special thanks to our sponsors: Piggly Wiggly of Heflin, Dixie Legends, Dick's Sporting Goods, Webb Concrete, Winn-Dixie of Oxford, FoodMax of Oxford and Colonial Pipeline Company.

Finally, thanks to all the participants for making this year's derby a success. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
